The Unchanging Heart in a Changing World

On the twenty-second of June, 2019, we reflected upon the nature of our journey. Causal Conditions shift according to the environment, which is a fundamental aspect of the impermanence of this world. However, the true test of a practitioner is whether your heart follows these shifting conditions or remains steadfast. Those who have realised their true nature understand the principles of the world with perfect clarity and harmony. Regardless of how the external environment changes, even if their actions follow the flow of Causal Conditions, their hearts remain forever joyful, selfless, and pure. They dwell in a state of constant, immovable happiness and purity, free from the burdens of afflictions and worries. This is the hallmark of one who has realised their true nature.

Our Shared Mission at Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre

A new situation brings a new atmosphere. The environment, the people, and the events around us are constantly changing according to Causal Conditions. Yet, the compassionate heart and the great vow to save all beings—the same heart as Namo Amituofo—remains our greatest source of support. Our commitment to spreading the Pure Land teachings and helping all beings achieve rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is an aspiration that will never change. Every member of the fourfold assembly of disciples at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre carries this sacred mission. We move forward together, heart to heart, without distinctions of self or others. When we are united as one, we can break through any difficulty and overcome every test. Our resolve to save suffering beings will never waver.

The Essence of True Transformation

Every moment is a new beginning. We must look at our daily efforts and understand how they shape our progress. These efforts include:

  • Listening to the sutras and hearing the to gain wisdom.Changing our personal ego, selfishness, and negative habits.Participating in Dharma assemblies to engage in deep repentance.Inviting spirits to resolve conflicts with our .Diligently maintaining our daily practice of chanting Namo Amituofo.

The Energy of Our Intentions

A new atmosphere is the result of changes in our hearts and our behaviour. Therefore, the subsequent developments that arise from this must be observed with wisdom. Positive thoughts are a form of positive energy, while negative thoughts are a form of negative energy. If you act according to positive energy, you will easily obtain positive results. Conversely, if you act according to negative energy, you will easily obtain negative results. A wise practitioner understands this principle and acts accordingly. They know the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, and then put them into practice, ensuring that their understanding and their actions are one. This is the Truth, and it remains constant. Regardless of the outcome, they do not violate the or create negative . This is why a wise person is called wise—they understand the consequences of their actions and refrain from creating evil.

Seizing the Precious Opportunity

Everything in this world has a cause and an effect. When the Causal Conditions mature, the results manifest. The beings who benefit from our work are those with whom we have formed Dharma affinities in past lives. The fact that we can continue these connections in this life is truly magnificent. The Pure Land path is the supreme method for ending the cycle of rebirth. Having encountered this path in this life, we must not let this opportunity slip away. We should actively participate in the , listen to the sutras, and hear the Dharma. By doing so, we can receive the benefit of and be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This message was recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe. Namo Amituofo.
