A New Beginning in the Western Pure Land

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Ye Yongtang, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition from the cycle of reincarnation to the Buddha-land. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on June 6, 2025.

Lay Practitioner Ye Yongtang speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I believe that deep within every person's heart, there is a light. Now, the light that belongs to me has finally arrived, allowing me to encounter the Buddha and follow Him. My spirit has been searching for a place for so long, and now I have finally found it. I have arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

The moment I beheld Namo Amituofo, my heart finally settled. All the various pains and torments I had experienced in the past were instantly resolved. I am deeply moved—truly, deeply moved. It is a feeling so profound that I wish to share it with my entire family.

The Vitality of the Pure Land

When you read this letter, I hope you can feel that I am now full of vitality. Every part of my being is filled with strength. My heart is now completely at peace. Having experienced life and death throughout accumulated lifetimes, it was only after arriving at the Buddha-land that I truly realised how terrifying reincarnation is.

During this time, I have come to understand that I have gone through countless cycles of reincarnation—far too many to even count. When I finally saw the truth, my heart was shaken to its core, because the reality of reincarnation is something one simply cannot escape. It was only after witnessing these truths that I awakened from the identity of 'Ye Yongtang.' I realised that this was merely my identity for this one lifetime, and that I had accumulated countless karmic debts over the ages.

A Call to Awaken

It was only after my spirit arrived at the Buddha-land that I truly saw and understood these things. I am so grateful for the Causal Conditions that allowed me to wake up. I am also deeply grateful that Namo Amituofo still accepted someone like me. I say these things because I want to remind my family: every single person is trapped in reincarnation, and everyone suffers because of it. In the past, I was not someone who understood the Buddha’s teachings or the laws of karma and cause and effect, but now that I understand these things, I hope you will know them too. I hope you do not walk the same old path I did; I hope you can wake up much earlier than I did.

A Message of Peace

In the past, I was terrified of death, but now I am not afraid at all, because Namo Amituofo is right by my side. Namo Amituofo is also by everyone’s side, if only you would believe. I offer this Buddha-name, 'Namo Amituofo,' to my dearest family and descendants. I bid farewell to the Ye Yongtang of the past. I am now a brand-new self, a voice of wondrous sound in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Gratitude to the Buddha. Ye Yongtang bows in reverence."
