A New Beginning: The Path of Constant Renewal
Teachings from Master Shang Xuan Xia Zhuang

The Mindset of True
For those who maintain a positive and upright heart, every single day is a fresh beginning. In fact, every fleeting second, every moment that passes, is a new 'now.' Regardless of where you are or what circumstances you face, if you can cultivate the heart that says, 'It is as it is, and it is right here,' then you are truly living in a state of constant renewal. A practitioner of the Buddha's teachings, while outwardly accepting all things and all people, keeps their heart unmoved. To be 'unmoved' is the mark of true cultivation. Conversely, if one is negative or passive, every day and every moment is lived in a state of delusion and decline. Such a mindset only adds to the burden of the spirit and creates obstacles that prevent one from moving forward with diligent practice.
Different hearts lead to different beginnings, and ultimately, to different lives. Is your destiny in your own hands? It is guided by your own heart, which dictates the outcome of your life. An ordinary heart is easily swayed by changes in the external environment, by the people we meet, and by the events that unfold. However, a true practitioner of the Buddha's teachings remains unmoved regardless of external changes. This state is known as meditative concentration. It is the ability to influence the external environment without being changed by it.
Transforming Impermanence into Hope
Every new beginning represents the constant changes of the world, yet it also represents hope. We often view birth, aging, sickness, and death as the natural processes of life, yet these are all manifestations of impermanence. The spirit, caught in the cycle of reincarnation, drifts through the six realms of existence, driven by the laws of and cause and effect. It has no fixed destination, which is the very nature of impermanence. However, it is precisely because of this impermanence that there is an opportunity for transformation and a chance for a new beginning. While you are alive, you can realise your true nature through the Buddha's teachings. This allows you to transcend the suffering of birth, aging, sickness, and death, and ultimately, to be reborn in the of Ultimate Bliss, ensuring that your spirit never dies.
The Living Fountain of
An awakened being, having realised their true nature, remains in a state of deep meditative concentration. Yet, they are capable of teaching the Dharma at any time and in any place. Each lecture they give is a new beginning. Why? Because the audience is always changing, and their states of mind are unique. The Dharma they share is like a living spring—it flows endlessly, yet it never departs from the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way of our original nature. For the listener who has never heard these teachings before, it is a new beginning and a new hope. It is like pouring fresh water into a parched land; the Buddha's water nourishes the heart-fields, washing away the dust and grime of the past. The Buddha's light shines upon all people and all earthly creatures, bringing them the energy of a new life. As the Buddha-name of Namo Amituofo enters the heart and ears, every cell in receives the benefits of the Dharma.
The Boundless of the Awakened
The awakened being remains unmoved in their concentration, yet they are filled with Dharma . This is because the world within their meditative state has no end, and their vow to save beings is limitless. Consider the vastness of the Dharma realm of emptiness:
- The beings of the six realms of existence. The air we breathe and the dust that dances in the light. The flowers, trees, and forests that grace our world. The mountains, rivers, and the very earth beneath our feet. The furniture, tools, and objects we use in our daily lives.
All of these are sentient beings, and all are objects of our compassion, waiting to be saved and reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. In their deep meditative state, the awakened being, through the constant recitation of the holy Buddha-name of Namo Amituofo, can deliver immeasurable and boundless beings to the Western Pure Land, regardless of how time and space may change. The work of saving beings is truly without end. For every being that is delivered, every moment is a new beginning and a new hope.
A Call to the Path of
The awakened being and all sentient beings are one. For every being that receives the nourishment of the Buddha's water, the illumination of the Buddha's light, and the support of the Buddha-name, and is sent to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, it is a new beginning and a new hope. The awakened being lives in the present moment, and at any time or place, they can bring this new beginning and new hope to countless beings. Naturally, they are filled with Dharma joy. This true achievement and infinite happiness cannot be replaced by anything in this world.
