This interview features the spirit of Mr. Guan Jun, the husband of Lay Practitioner Cen Xingying. Having sought Spiritual Deliverance through the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, he now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account, which serves as a poignant warning to his family regarding the karmic consequences of his past actions, was recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on March 25, 2019.

Guan Jun speaks:

"Venerable, there is no need for you to speak further; I, Guan Jun, already know exactly why you have invited me here!"

The Agony of Past Transgressions

"Xingying, my dear! Although I have reached the Western Pure Land, I still speak with a heavy heart and profound sorrow. I pleaded with my wife, Xingying, to help me seek Spiritual Deliverance, and the most critical reason for this was the countless lives I took and the non-vegetarian food I consumed during my lifetime. Seeing the seafood, fish, shrimp, abalone, and bird's nest that I had killed and eaten in the past—all coming to demand their lives back—was a sight that broke my heart. I was filled with such intense remorse for having consumed them simply to satisfy my own cravings and for social obligations.

"Now, I see them before me, their bodies mangled, heads and limbs missing, some even chopped into unrecognizable pieces. I could not help but kneel before them, weeping and begging for their forgiveness. Fortunately, because of the performed by Xingying at the assembly, some of them have been saved, which has eased the crushing weight of guilt in my heart."

A Father's Urgent Plea to His Son

"And now, I hear that my son, Youming, is back in mainland China, raising and selling fish fry for profit. Youming! Money may be easy to earn, but you are gambling with your own life! Father does not blame you for engaging in this killing; I blame myself for not teaching my children properly. I blame myself for having been a meat-eater my entire life, consuming endless amounts of seafood and fish. By allowing you to pursue this business, I have set you on a path that will inevitably lead to !

"You are a smart man, and I was a smart man too, but look at the death I suffered and the fate that befell me. The tragic passing of three members of our family should be a warning to you. Be careful! Stop this business immediately! It is not worth gambling with your life. Do not wait until you are dead, like your father, to feel this regret! Thankfully, your mother trusted Practitioner Su and sought my deliverance; otherwise, my fate right now would be suffering in the hells!"

Every Fish is a Spirit

"Youming, you must listen to your father! In this lifetime, you only have one life. Those fish fry are all beings who were reborn after their previous human lives ended. Do not think that just because you cannot see their past, it does not exist. The laws of and cause and effect are absolute; you will have to pay for these lives! Every single fish fry is a spirit, a life. Every time you sell a batch, you are effectively sending that many spirits to their deaths. They were once human, just like us! This is something I have seen and experienced personally after my death, and I do not want you to follow in my footsteps."

The Path to Redemption

"Now that I am in the Western Pure Land, I feel a deep sense of comfort seeing that my wife and Shuwei have come here. I have spoken many words before, and my wife has taken them to heart. With Practitioner Su saving the world in Hong Kong, my wife witnessed it, believed, and that is why she was able to come to the temple today! We must also be grateful for the help of the Dharma and the power of the Buddha. We shall no longer use our worldly names. Do not return to that old life of ignorance, killing, and creating negative karma. I, Guan Jun, spent my whole life demanding that others listen to me, but now, having been delivered to the Western Pure Land, I have changed. I have transformed. I now listen to Practitioner Su, and I listen to Namo Amituofo.

"My dear family, I will not name you one by one. I am Guan Jun, and these are my own words. Those who believe will save themselves; those who do not, must face the consequences of their own actions. Even your father cannot save you if you refuse to listen."

A Final Hope for Reunion

"Xingying, you will believe me, won't you? Practitioner Su can save you. If you have the opportunity to enter the Village, I will be able to see you every day, and you will be able to come to the Western Pure Land to reunite with me and our son. My good wife, I will stop here for now."

"Namo Amituofo."
