A Statesman's Perspective on True Practice
An Interview with the Spirit of Lee Kuan Yew
Reflections on the Practice of Practitioner Su
This interview was recorded on July 9, 2018. The spirit of Lee Kuan Yew, the former Prime Minister of Singapore, shares his observations from the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss regarding the diligent work of the fourfold assembly at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia and the profound spiritual attainments of Practitioner Su.
The Spirit of Lee Kuan Yew speaks:
"From my vantage point in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I observe the fourfold assembly of disciples at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Even amidst their incredibly busy schedules, they never forget their fundamental duties. The intensity with which they work reminds me so much of my own approach to governance and labour during my time in the human world. If only people could see the vast, boundless multitudes of spirits that fill every corner of existence, I believe no one would dare to be lazy. Is that not exactly how one should approach the task of saving people and saving the world?"
The Unseen Work of Practitioner Su
"The spirit of salvation embodied by Practitioner Su is something that truly commands my deepest respect. The ability Practitioner Su possesses to perform for sentient beings is completely unrestricted by geography or environment. Sometimes you might see Practitioner Su sitting quietly, seemingly silent; beyond the constant, unwavering recitation of the Buddha-name within, Practitioner Su is, more often than not, silently delivering and assisting the spirits of the underworld that only the Buddha-eye can perceive. The outside world remains largely unaware of this.
Just yesterday, for instance, whether at the airport or after boarding the aircraft, I witnessed the countless beings present in the clouds—all of them were subjects of deliverance, with no barriers or compartments to hold them back. Practitioner Su’s low-profile style, the profound and little-known level of attainment in practice, and the selfless, impartial attitude toward teaching—if I, Lee Kuan Yew, did not speak a few words about this, it would be a great pity for the world to remain in the dark."
A Call to the People of Singapore
"This is precisely why I always hold onto hope. I hope that the children of Singapore can travel to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia to study and learn. I want them to become 'doctors' who possess skills far beyond those of conventional medicine—practitioners who can truly reach the source of the to fundamentally treat all kinds of illnesses. Of course, it is even more vital to understand that we must cherish our physical bodies only so that we may use them to help more spirits from the underworld, as well as beings in the human and lower realms. It is absolutely not about being greedy for life or afraid of death, nor is it about being selfish and living only for oneself. I must emphasise this point clearly."
The Essence of Education
"My fellow citizens, if you have trusted me in the past because you know I always had the welfare of the people at heart, then you must know that what I say now is not false. Even if your religious beliefs might lead you to reject this out of prejudice, you need to understand that the Great Dharma of Namo Amituofo is not merely a religion; it is the very essence of education. It truly teaches people how to learn , how to help others, how to expand the capacity of their hearts, and how to love others as oneself. I believe the original intent of the nine major religions should be exactly the same.
In truth, having a different religious faith does not hinder you in the slightest from understanding and delving into the Pure Land school of the Buddha. Give yourself a chance, and in doing so, give yourself an extra option for the salvation of your wisdom-life. After all, the matter of life and death is the most significant event of all. Once you understand where you are going after death, you will no longer fear facing the path that every single person must walk. Because once you understand, you will realise that your soul has been cycling through samsara throughout your many lives, playing different roles across the vast universe—it is truly a sobering realisation."
A Key to Eternal Life
"If you happen to cross paths in this lifetime with a true practitioner who has appeared in the world with such great difficulty—the true spiritual friend, Practitioner Su of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre—who knows how long you would have to wait to encounter a true Buddha again if you miss this chance? Pick up your phone, find the website, make a call, and learn more. Your life will take a major turn, steering you onto a bright and smooth path. Because you have made a choice rooted in wisdom, I hope to see my fellow citizens and all other beings connected by karmic affinity successfully immigrate to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, a place so rare in all the worlds. I leave you with the key to preserving your life: Namo Amituofo!"
