When we speak of aligning ourselves with those at the front of the line, we are using a metaphor for order and progress. In a physical procession, those at the back look to those in front to ensure the entire group remains orderly and moves in the right direction. In the context of our spiritual journey, this means looking to our predecessors—those who have already realised their true nature—and learning from their example. Today, we focus on the importance of aligning our hearts and minds with these awakened beings.

The Essence of the Awakened Being

An awakened being is one who has reached the ultimate goal of Buddhist practice. Having realised their true nature and attained liberation, they do not simply rest in that state. Instead, they dedicate their existence to the practical work of saving beings. This is the true meaning of becoming a Buddha. Their journey of saving the world is endless, and they act according to the specific conditions and affinities they encounter. They may have a specific target for their guidance, or they may work without a fixed object, for they understand a profound truth: all beings are one with them. Because there is no separation between and others, their flows naturally and without obstruction.

The Power of the Buddha-name

When a Buddha or encounters those with whom they share a karmic affinity, they provide the necessary support to help them achieve Buddhahood. Together, they continue the work of saving others. For those with whom they do not yet have a deep connection, they use the sacred Buddha-name of Namo Amituofo to establish a bond. This is the planting of the of . Once this seed enters the ear, it becomes an eternal part of the being's . It is a permanent connection that ensures that, in time, they will eventually be saved.

The Fluidity of Manifestation

Buddhas and Bodhisattvas do not limit themselves to a single role. Because they recognise that all beings are one with them, they can manifest in any form necessary to teach and guide. They may appear as any individual within the six realms of existence to provide a demonstration of the truth. They do not decide in advance which role to play; rather, they observe the conditions of the world. If a specific role is required to help a being, they will assume that role. If they encounter another Buddha or Bodhisattva who is also manifesting, they may perform a mutual interaction, a spiritual play designed to help beings learn, practise, and eventually leave suffering behind. This is a vital part of the process of teaching beings how to become a Buddha.

Taking Responsibility for Your Own

It is essential to understand that Buddhas and Bodhisattvas cannot change the laws of karma and cause and effect for you. Everything depends on your own faith, vows, and practice. Your destiny is held firmly in your own hands. Your mental notes, your intentions, and your actions are the seeds of your own karma. To see your true nature, you must be fiercely diligent in your practice. You must put in the work to transform your karma, which means applying yourself fully to the path of faith, vows, and practice. By adjusting your conduct and refining your heart, you are effectively aligning yourself with the awakened ones. You may do this by following the teachings of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, or by observing the guidance of a true spiritual friend, asking for the , and following their example.

A Sanctuary for Learning

In this present time, the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre serves as a sanctuary where you may request the Dharma, follow the teachings, and learn how to walk this path of . By immersing yourself in this environment, you are taking the necessary steps to align your life with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. Namo Amituofo.
