The Quiet Before the Dawn

Before the first light of dawn touches the horizon, the world remains in a state of profound stillness. While the earthly creatures and humanity are seemingly lost in the deep slumber of the night, we must realise that this peace is often an illusion. Many beings remain awake, living out their lives within the shadows of the dark. In our modern era, we find ourselves increasingly immersed in a world dominated by the internet, mobile devices, and advanced technology. If we fail to exercise discipline and self-control, we risk becoming hopelessly lost within these virtual realms.

The Toll of Digital Attachment

When we become addicted to the illusions of the digital world—such as online gaming, social media, and the constant stimulation of technology—we invite serious consequences into our lives. This lack of restraint creates openings for negative influences to take hold. The repercussions of this unchecked behaviour are manifold:

  • Spiritual Interference: We attract and invite the presence of spirits or even demon crowds to attach themselves to our bodies, causing us to lose control over our own thoughts and actions.
  • Academic Decline: Students become distracted and neglect their studies, leading to a sharp and distressing drop in their academic performance.
  • Professional Exhaustion: Adults who stay up late into the night chasing digital distractions find themselves drained, lacking the energy and focus required for their daily work.
  • Family Discord: The changes in a child's behaviour often spark arguments between spouses, leading to unhappiness and a breakdown in the harmony of the home.
  • Health Deterioration: Irregular eating habits and disrupted sleep patterns pose a direct threat to our physical and mental well-being.
  • Personality Shifts: Many children experience significant personality changes, which can lead to self-inflicted harm or the unintentional hurting of others.

The Root of the Virtual Search

It is vital to understand that these problems—which plague our individuals, families, and schools—do not manifest overnight. They are the result of long-term habits, accumulated over months and years of neglect. Furthermore, we must recognise that this is not solely the fault of the child. Often, these issues stem from deeper fractures within the family dynamic. When communication and interaction between parents, siblings, and peers are strained, a void is created. Because of these deficits in our Body-Mind-Spirit, children and adults alike turn to the internet and technology as a form of compensation, desperately searching for the connection and fulfilment they lack in their physical lives.

The Light of Buddhist Education

Buddhist education offers a path to healing by addressing these issues directly from the heart and adjusting our outward behaviour. It allows children and adults alike to gain a clear understanding of the root causes of their suffering. Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre is dedicated to assisting families in improving these difficult situations. We provide support for -Mind-Spirit, including necessary spiritual adjustments, to help parents and children emerge from the shadows of helplessness and despair. By correcting these imbalances, we can restore harmony to the home.

The teachings of the Buddha and the compassionate guidance provided at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre serve as a beacon of hope. For those children and individuals currently lost in the darkness of their own confusion, this is the dawn that breaks the night. Namo Amituofo.
