The Root of Our Suffering

Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju offers these profound teachings on the nature of confusion. We must understand that confusion and ignorance are the fundamental causes of our suffering. They are the very roots that keep us trapped within the cycle of being reincarnated. In this vast ocean of karmic consequences, we are tossed about by countless phenomena. Confusion is one of the primary obstacles that prevents our innate wisdom from shining forth, obscuring the light of our true nature.

The Heart of No-Attachment

How can we finally resolve the suffering caused by this deep-seated confusion? The answer lies in cultivating a heart that is free from attachment. When our heart is empty of selfish desires, it gains the capacity to contain all things without being disturbed by them. Confusion is merely one of many phenomena; when the heart is truly unattached, it is no longer troubled by the shadows of confusion. In this state of stillness, we find the strength to break through the darkness entirely.

The Path of Diligent Practice

To achieve this, we must commit ourselves to our daily practice without any negligence. We must focus on the following essential steps:

  • Dissolve : Actively work to clear the karmic debts that weigh down our spirit.
  • Remove obstacles: Identify and let go of the barriers that prevent us from leaving suffering behind.
  • Cultivate Goodness: Ensure that every action is rooted in pure, selfless intent.
  • Practise : Release the ego to allow the true nature to emerge.

Through this process of purification, we find that our only focus is to chant the name of Namo Amituofo. When we reach this state of single-minded devotion, the clouds of confusion scatter, leaving no trace behind. It is in this clarity that we become an awakened being, having finally broken through the veil of confusion to reveal our original, luminous nature.
