This is a record of an interview with He Jianwen, the nephew of Lay Practitioner He Yanping. He sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia and now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on June 13, 2025.
He Jianwen speaks:
". I am currently kneeling before the Buddha, tears streaming down my face. My heart is deeply moved, and I have not yet fully calmed down from the overwhelming gratitude I feel. I am profoundly thankful to the compassionate Practitioner Su for saving me and helping my spirit reach the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Only through this grace have I been able to attain liberation and finally leave suffering behind.
In my human life, I failed to overcome the greatest trial—the very calamity that claimed my life. I departed from the human world while I was still young. Looking back now, I truly feel a sense of sorrow. I always felt that there were so many things left unfinished, yet my life ended just like that, without giving me another chance to make things right.
For a long time, I remained trapped in the very space where my heart attack had suddenly occurred. I was still caught in a cycle of fear and shock, unable to break free from that dark, stagnant place. I never imagined that more than a decade had passed in the blink of an eye. Even more unexpectedly, after all these years, I was given the chance to be rescued, and not just rescued, but brought all the way to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am astonished, and I am filled with such immense gratitude. I am truly, deeply grateful.
I know that my sudden departure brought shock and profound pain to many people. I never intended for it to happen so abruptly. However, when I was in the Western Land of Nature at Practitioner Su’s centre, I saw the sins I had committed in my past. After witnessing the weight of my own actions, I dared not say another word in my defence. The fact that I was allowed to live to that age before my life was taken was already a form of leniency toward me.
In the past, I used cruel methods that caused many people to lose their lives in the shortest amount of time. So many families, so many lives—how could I ever repay such a debt? I truly had no way to make amends. When I saw them still suffering and realised I was powerless to help them, my heart ached with regret. I felt such deep self-reproach: how could I have committed such wrongdoings and harmed so many people? I have been constantly chanting Namo Amituofo to help them, hoping that they can all emerge from their dark spaces, find peace in their hearts, and follow the Buddha to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. That is my greatest hope.
Now that I have arrived in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I will continue to chant Namo Amituofo to help all beings who have a karmic affinity with me. I also pray for the Buddha’s blessing so that they, too, may leave suffering behind.
I want to thank my aunt, Lay Practitioner He Yanping, for helping me attain this deliverance. If it were not for her assistance, I would never have had the opportunity to be saved by Practitioner Su. Thank you, Aunt, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
He Jianwen bows in reverence. Namo Amituofo."
