Deliverance to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss: The Journey of Lay Practitioner Xing Fengxiang

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Xing Fengxiang, who sought and attained deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. Having successfully transitioned from the suffering of the world, he now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transformative journey and his deep gratitude for the path that led him to liberation. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on May 30, 2025.

Lay Practitioner Xing Fengxiang speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I have never been a man of many words, nor have I been particularly eloquent in expressing my inner thoughts. However, there are things that must be said, and there is a profound sense of gratitude that I must voice. I am eternally thankful to Namo Amituofo and to Practitioner Su for providing me, Xing Fengxiang, with a sanctuary where I can finally rest my heart and soul in peace.

I am now residing in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. There is absolutely no sense of discomfort or displacement here; on the contrary, I feel a profound sense of peace and an abundance of spiritual energy. Whatever I think of, it appears before me instantly, manifesting in perfect harmony with my needs. In my life in the world, I never experienced such a state of being. Everything back then required my own constant, exhausting effort, and there were always so many worries, anxieties, and heavy burdens to consider. To be able to live like this now—in such a state of ease—it is truly a blessed existence that I could never have imagined possible."

A Life of Ease in the Western Pure Land

"It is a life of true ease, a state of being that is beyond the comprehension of those still trapped in the world. Think about it—in the world, we are constantly chasing after fleeting things, constantly struggling against the currents of life. Here, the environment itself is a manifestation of the Buddha's boundless compassion. It is a world without suffering, only joy. I have found a state of existence that I never thought possible, and it is all thanks to the guidance and the compassionate intervention I received at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre.

The peace I feel here is not merely the absence of conflict; it is the presence of the Dharma. Every moment is an opportunity to deepen my understanding and to exist in a state of meditative concentration. I have finally realised that the struggles I endured in the world were merely the result of my own ignorance, and here, that ignorance has been replaced by the light of the Buddha."

The Debt of Gratitude to My Daughter

"I want to express my deepest thanks to my daughter, Xing Xifen, for giving me the precious opportunity to encounter the Buddha. It was through her devotion and her efforts that I found this path. I am so grateful to the Buddha for guiding both me and my wife to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I never imagined that I would have the chance to see my wife again in such a way, reunited in this sacred place.

For the help provided by the Buddha and Practitioner Su, I will never forget it. I feel a heavy debt of gratitude, though I truly do not know how I could ever repay such a kindness. All I can do is continue to practise, to remain steadfast in my faith, and to ensure that I live in a way that honours the help I have received."

Facing the Karmic Creditors

"When my spirit was guided to the Buddha-land, I experienced something truly extraordinary. It was a transformation that opened my eyes to so many things I had never understood before. It was only after gaining this understanding that I realised I had to seek liberation from the cycle of rebirth. I saw many scenes from my past—the debts I had accumulated over countless lifetimes. Many karmic creditors were waiting for me, their presence a stark reminder of the actions I had taken in the past.

There were beings I had harmed in the past, and lives I had hurt in this current lifetime. So many of them were standing in line, waiting to seek revenge. I did not know how to repay them, so I began to chant Namo Amituofo, hoping that my chanting could help them. By listening to the sutras and hearing the Dharma in the Buddha-land, I came to understand that everything in the world is a matter of Causal Conditions. Once I truly made the vow to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, my deepest hope became to bring all those beings I had harmed along with me, so they too could be free from their suffering."

A Final Blessing for My Descendants

"Now that I am already in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, I am filled with gratitude. I do not have much to leave behind, but I offer this: chant Namo Amituofo. I hope that my family and my descendants are all well, and I wish to pass the seed of the Buddha on to all of you. May you all find the same peace that I have found, and may you all eventually be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

I am grateful for everything.
