Divine Sight and Hearing
Teachings from Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju
Second Session of the 2019 Global Disaster Mitigation and Blessing Dharma Assembly

The Illusion of the Physical World
The world we perceive is a complex tapestry of fleeting images and sounds. We often mistake these sensory experiences for absolute reality, yet they are merely the products of our sensory . Our eyes are drawn to the vibrant colours of the world, seeing a myriad of forms that appear distinct and permanent. In truth, all these manifestations arise solely from our eye consciousness. Similarly, our ears are constantly filled with a symphony of sounds—the rise and fall of speech, the melodies of music, and the discordant noises of daily life. We believe these experiences define our existence, but we must look deeper to understand their true nature.
The Inevitable Cycle of Life
Consider the journey of a human life. We arrive in this world with a cry, marking our entry into the cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death. As time passes, the voice that once rang clear becomes hoarse with age. When illness strikes, our sounds turn to groans of suffering and cries of pain. Finally, when death arrives, the voice falls silent, and our ties to this world are severed. Everything we have seen, heard, possessed, and achieved in this lifetime cannot be taken with us. We leave behind all our worldly belongings, yet the master of has already departed. One must ask: what was the true purpose of this journey?
to Divine Sight and Hearing
You have the precious opportunity to verify the infinite through your own body. This is a rare and invaluable gift. When you reach the state of an awakened being, your five eyes become clear. You gain the power of divine sight and hearing, perceiving all things with absolute clarity. In this state, the heart is unburdened by any attachment. You see the suffering inherent in the birth of all things, and you hear the echoes of all beings in existence. This divine sight and hearing is natural; it is the original state of our nature, identical to that of Namo Amituofo.
Returning to the of Ultimate Bliss
Namo Amituofo is the embodiment of our heart and our vows. The Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is our true home, the place to which we are destined to return. Once you enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, you become one with Namo Amituofo. These teachings were recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
