Ending the Dusty Journey: Teachings from Master Chewu
An Interview with Master Chewu on the Observations of Chao Du
Recorded on the 15th of March, 2021
The of Practitioner Su
With boundless wisdom and virtue, I, Master Chewu, hold the deepest respect for the compassion and the Ultimate Vow of Practitioner Su. His tireless, unceasing efforts to save all beings are a true blessing for this world and for every sentient being. All of you should recognise the significance of this opportunity and follow this path closely; do not let this precious chance slip through your fingers again.
The Buddha’s compassion is vast, and the Buddha’s teachings are as deep as the ocean. For thousands of years, the sacred scriptures have been passed down to us. Although we have now entered the -Ending Age, we are incredibly fortunate that Practitioner Su has manifested in this world. He is here to assist those trapped in the cycle of rebirth, helping many lost souls break through their delusions and attain . This magnificent achievement is only possible because of the power of Practitioner Su’s great vow, which has the strength to overcome the heavy spiritual obstacles of this era. You must all understand the importance of diligent practice, breaking through your limitations, and realising your true nature.
The Call to Embrace the Supreme Dharma
This is a rare and magnificent Dharma, a teaching so profound that it may seem inconceivable and difficult to believe. However, you must know how to act upon it. You must:
- Break through your ego-attachment, which acts as a barrier to your progress.
- Remove the obstacles that hinder your faith in the Buddha’s teachings.
- Understand the supreme Dharma, for it is the foundation of your liberation.
- Have unwavering faith in the supreme Dharma, as it is the light that guides you home.
- Practise the supreme Dharma, for this is the path to liberation and the path to becoming a Buddha.
Do not miss this opportunity; it is rare and difficult to encounter.
The Purity of Namo Amituofo
Namo Amituofo is dignified, magnificent, and possesses a beauty that words cannot describe. He is pure, free, and liberated, entirely untainted by the dust and worldly concerns of this realm. This state of being is one of refreshing clarity, where there is nothing to grasp and nothing to seek. All beings should truly learn from the Buddha and strive to attain the same state of awakening.
The Buddha’s teachings manifest within the dust of this world, and sentient beings reveal themselves within this realm. This is the very place where you can respond to the Dharma and attain awakening. You should all be more diligent in your practice here, for as you deepen your understanding, you will discover profound meanings that were previously hidden from you.
The Responsibility of the Practitioner
The Buddha’s teachings are something you must realise for yourself through your own practice. You must know how to cultivate your heart. The amount of effort you put into your practice directly corresponds to the level of awakening you will achieve. This is something you must reflect upon yourself. It is a great pity to live in a world where the Buddha’s teachings are present, yet remain ignorant and unaware of them.
In this vast and expansive period, I wish to offer a few words of reminder, hoping that those who have the affinity and the faith will awaken. In the future, the world will be filled with many who are deeply lost and unable to wake up. There will be many who find it difficult to break through their own hearts, and who remain heavily attached to their physical bodies. This will be the confusion of the future world, yet one can already see the emptiness within the hearts of many people today.
Overcoming the Illusion of
This change reflects the emptiness in the hearts of people today. They find it difficult to maintain their own autonomy, often becoming lost and obstructed by illusions and false appearances. They find it hard to leave suffering behind because their hearts are truly suffering. This state of being, which is so difficult to resolve and so difficult to save, is the very calamity of the Dharma-Ending Age. Doubt is another great difficulty within this; the dust of the world is hard to save precisely because of this. The many changing states within the heart are impermanent and unstable, making it difficult to find a point of rest.
I have spoken of many difficulties, but in truth, these are all self-imposed. You are trapped by your own making. If you can resolve the issues within your own heart and learn to let go of yourself, where would the concept of the Dharma-Ending Age even come from? Fundamentally, everything is pure and filled with light.
The Freedom of the True Self
Freedom is the radiance of your own heart. It is a state that all beings can find, because your heart is inherently free. Why then are you trapped? Why is there suffering? You must learn to let go and return to this state of freedom. On the endless path of those without faith, one can see many beings trapped in the cycle of rebirth, unable to find liberation. They are confined within their own space, entangled and influenced by their attachments, personalities, and emotions, mistaking the false for the real.
You can often see this state in both the visible and invisible realms. They are all entangled within their own space, suffering and enduring the consequences of their own actions, unable to find a way out and lacking the vow to be liberated. You must know that this is a tragedy. A life lived blindly is nothing more than a journey on a lost path.
The Mission of Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre
Only by knowing how to be liberated can you truly be free. If your heart does not know how to seek liberation, it is like being unable to believe in the supreme Dharma; you are obstructing yourself and remaining entangled in your own spiritual obstacles. You must know how to change; do not remain lost in the midst of your own forgetfulness.
Why is it so difficult to save the hearts of this world? You must first understand why it is so difficult for life to awaken. Beings have been in the cycle of rebirth for a long time, sinking through many lifetimes. Their hearts are entangled with various forms of , attachments, and desires, which obstruct their body, mind, and spirit, making it difficult for them to awaken. Furthermore, the ego-attachment and subjective views of beings, combined with the dust they have accumulated over lifetimes, their habits, and their personalities, all make it difficult for them to be saved and difficult for them to wake up.
The world is like a play, or like a dream. When you see the state of other beings, you are seeing a reflection of your own state. Only when you know how to be clear and awakened can you be liberated from this, find your true self, and attain the freedom of the spirit. You should know how to awaken yourself; by seeing all things, you will attain all kinds of wisdom.
Diligent Practice and Transformation
Within your practice, there are many different states. You can reach a state of perfect harmony by approaching it from many directions. Change is a vital matter. In this world, I, Master Chewu, can see that many changes exist. Whether you are a layperson or a practitioner, the ability to break through these changes and maintain your own meditative concentration is what true practice is all about.
You must be able to adapt to all changes. If you can master this ability to adapt while maintaining your own meditative concentration, you will attain purity. It is not easy to save people in this world, and it is even more difficult to save yourself. Therefore, you must know how to be clear, examine yourself, and know how to adjust and break through. By saving yourself, you elevate your own nature, which allows you to manifest your innate abilities and help other beings. This is a magnificent meaning that you must cherish with all your heart.
Practitioner Su, with his great power, leads the fourfold assembly of disciples. Now, even in the void, he leads the masses to spread the Buddha’s voice and to save the world. This is a magnificent situation that you all must learn from. You must learn to have the Buddha’s compassion, the Buddha’s power, and the Buddha’s courage. You must align yourself with the Buddha’s great vow to save the world and deliver all beings. You must always align your actions with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.
If you have even a fraction of strength, you should use it. This is the power of life; you could say this is the meaning of life. It is where the Truth resides, and it is how you walk in accordance with the Truth. In the vastness of the work of , in this infinitely wide world, you can feel the presence of infinite beings. Without any selfish heart or thought, join together to help all beings move forward. Pray for the added support of the power of Namo Amituofo to purify and save all beings. This boundless realm is within the scope of your own ability to perform Chao Du. For the sake of these infinite beings, give your one part of sincerity.
Life in this world can accomplish infinite things and possesses endless potential. It all depends on whether you are willing to manifest it, or whether you only live for yourself. If you only live for yourself, it is not worth much. You must work for the sake of all beings and learn to put yourself aside.
Here at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, under the compassionate guidance of Practitioner Su, everything in the void is gradually being purified and transformed. The breakthrough in the inner nature of the fourfold assembly of disciples is extremely important. I look forward to seeing all of you take another step forward in your practice. The dust of the world is in a severe state, and it requires Practitioner Su and the fourfold assembly of disciples to help save it, to turn the cycle of rebirth of this world, and to allow everything to return to its source. Know liberation, and enter the path to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss together.
This lifetime is of the utmost importance. I hope that all of you can stop your dusty journey and enter the pure land of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss together. I am grateful for the Buddha’s compassionate grace, which is truly wonderful, and I thank Practitioner Su for his heart for all beings. May all disciples work together in this effort.
Namo Amituofo.
