The Illusion of Fleeting Emotions

In this world, people often mistake their transient emotions for something permanent and true. They hold onto these tightly within their hearts, finding it incredibly difficult to let go. Yet, these emotions exist only for a fleeting moment. They vanish without a trace, leaving nothing behind for us to find. We must realise that clinging to these temporary states of mind only serves to bind us further to the cycle of rebirth.

The Storehouse of

Every beautiful or painful experience we have ever had enters our consciousness, leaving an indelible mark that persists through endless time. Within this storehouse of consciousness, countless images and spirits reside. When the right conditions arise, these images are called forth, manifesting as the karmic phenomena we experience in our daily lives. This is the true origin of the laws of and cause and effect. Every result we face is a direct consequence of our own past actions, manifesting with absolute precision.

The Obstacles of and Agitation

When these karmic images manifest from our consciousness, they often bring with them the twin obstacles of drowsiness and agitation. These states cloud our clarity and disrupt our practice. To overcome this, your awareness must arise immediately to sever these karmic attachments. Only by maintaining a sharp and clear awareness can you find release from these states of mental dullness and restlessness. Do not harbour any thoughts of luck or chance; even the most subtle, fleeting thought enters your consciousness and contributes to the seeds of your future karma.

Purifying the Mind

If you wish to attain a state of purity, free from all defilements, you must ensure that no karmic seeds remain within your heart. When you discover that you have created a negative cause, you must be willing to face the consequences and accept the with a sincere heart. Once you have accepted the result, you must change your ways; this is the path to true purification. If you fail to do so, these negative causes will continue to accumulate within your consciousness, forming layers of filth and grime. You will not know when or how these seeds will manifest as future suffering.

Returning to the Buddha-Heart

It is far better to transform these causes and effects in the present moment, ensuring your heart remains free from burdens and attains true ease. You must also cultivate the right affinity to understand these truths. When your heart is pure and free from wandering thoughts, your consciousness will naturally transform into a state of purity. In this state, you will be able to realise your true self and perceive the Buddha-heart within. These teachings were recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
