Finding Eternal Peace in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Guan Yankai, the fifth sister-in-law of Lay Practitioner He Yanping. She sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia and now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on June 6, 2025.

Lay Practitioner Guan Yankai speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. A heart that was once so restless has finally been set at ease. I feel a profound sense of calm now—a stillness so deep that I am beginning to forget who I even was in the world of men.

I have arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is even more magnificent than what I witnessed when I was with Practitioner Su. Every scene that unfolds before me brings such tranquility to my heart; there is a warmth radiating within me that is truly beyond words. It is a feeling of absolute belonging.

The Gift of Deliverance

I am deeply grateful to Practitioner Su for rescuing my spirit. I have come to realise that by reaching the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I no longer have to endure the cycle of rebirth. I am filled with such joy. I often wonder how I could be so fortunate to have encountered such a precious opportunity for liberation.

Only after I passed away did I truly understand that every spirit is ultimately alone. When I went to be reincarnated, I went as a single spirit. After death, I returned to being that same single spirit. There was never anyone truly by my side. The relatives we have in the world are merely bound by Causal Conditions for a single lifetime. Perhaps we knew each other in past lives, but those connections are always fleeting. Once a lifetime ends, we return to our solitary existence.

Opening the Heart

While I was listening to the Dharma talks at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, I truly began to see things clearly and understand the deeper truths of existence. For the longest time, my heart felt heavy and stifled, though I could never quite explain why. But now, that heavy weight has lifted, and my heart has finally opened.

From the moment I began listening to Practitioner Su’s teachings, my heart started to unfold, layer by layer. Now that I am here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, those feelings of gloom and oppression have vanished entirely. I cherish this state of peace and comfort; it is truly wonderful!

A Heart Filled with Gratitude

I keep the Buddha’s name in my heart, chanting 'Namo Amituofo' continuously, one phrase after another. With every recitation, my heart grows more and more secure.

I am filled with gratitude. I am so thankful to my sister-in-law, He Yanping, for her help. Although our connection in the world was brief, I will always remember this kindness. My heart is overflowing with appreciation for you.

I am also deeply grateful to Practitioner Su and to everyone who assisted me on this journey.
