This is a record of an interview with Chen Haiquan, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his life and his transition to the Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on March 14, 2025.
Chen Haiquan speaks:
". I am Chen Haiquan. To be able to see the Buddha, my heart is filled with boundless gratitude. I am deeply thankful for the protection of all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and I am eternally grateful for the guidance and deliverance provided by Practitioner Su. It is truly a miracle that I have been brought to this state of grace.
I have now arrived in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, and I feel completely healthy and incredibly light, as if a heavy burden has been lifted from my soul. Everywhere I turn in this magnificent realm, I hear the resonant sound of the Buddha-name being chanted, which fills me with such that I cannot help but hum along. The scenery here is breathtakingly beautiful, and it brings a profound sense of peace to my heart. I never imagined that I would be able to reach such a place. I want to thank my child for their filial piety; because of their dedication and their commitment to the , I have been liberated from the cycle of suffering that once defined my existence."
"The life I lead now is infinitely better than the life I lived in the human world. To my family members who are still living in the world of suffering, please be happy for me. Do not grieve, for I have found the ultimate destination where there is no more pain, only the pure joy of the Dharma. I am finally at rest, and I wish for you all to share in this happiness.
When I look back on my life, I remember how I struggled and laboured for decades. There were so many moments when I felt I was at my breaking point, yet I forced myself to keep going. I held onto so much suppressed anger and frustration, which only made my temper worse. It is only now, from this vantage point, that I can see the truth: at that time, there were so many surrounding me, influencing my thoughts and actions, and turning me into someone I barely recognised. I did not like who I had become, but I felt completely trapped and unable to change my circumstances. I was a prisoner of my own emotions and the heavy weight of my past actions."
"Looking back, I realise that human life is filled with endless tests and immense suffering. When you are trapped in the mindset of believing that you are the only one suffering, you only sink deeper into that misery. These tests and challenges arise at every turn, but we often choose to jump right into the middle of them, which is why it becomes so difficult to find a way out. We are often our own worst enemies, blinded by the illusions of the material world.
It was only after I arrived at the Buddha-land and began listening to the teachings of the Dharma that I finally understood the laws of and cause and effect. Only then was I able to truly let go of the many events that had haunted me for so long. I am so deeply grateful for the Causal Conditions that brought me to this place, which allowed for such a profound transformation in my spirit. I am eternally thankful that my child chose to practise the Dharma, for it was that very act of devotion that saved me from the darkness."
"The path of practising the Dharma is a way to help not only oneself but also others. I truly hope that my child will persist on this path and continue to spread this great, compassionate love of the Buddha to all beings. It is a light that the world desperately needs, and it is the greatest gift one can offer to their ancestors and their loved ones.
Right now, I am here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, chanting the Buddha-name and dedicating all the merit to my family and to this world. I hope that everyone can find their way to a better life, free from the shadows of the past. Once again, I offer my deepest gratitude to the Buddha and to Practitioner Su for their infinite . Namo Amituofo."
"Chen Haiquan, with folded palms. Namo Amituofo."
