From Darkness to the Light of the Pure Land

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Feng Zhizheng, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on May 2, 2025.

Lay Practitioner Feng Zhizheng speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Feng Zhizheng. I have arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. The beauty of this place is beyond words, and it has filled my heart with a boundless, radiant light. Namo Amituofo has been so compassionate toward me; He has restored my body to perfect health. I am doing wonderfully here.

A Journey from Darkness to Light

I am sitting within a lotus flower, and it constantly provides me with energy, keeping my spirit vibrant and clear. In the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, whatever I think of manifests before my eyes—it is truly a world where every wish is fulfilled. Every moment, my heart is filled with immense joy. To have arrived in such a magnificent Pure Land, I feel incredibly fortunate. I am following the Buddha, and He has brought me into a realm of pure, brilliant light.

When I think back to the time immediately after my passing, I remember entering a state of absolute darkness. I was dragging my sick, weary body, and there was nothing but suffering. I could not see any light, and my heart felt deeply shadowed and cold. I am so profoundly grateful to Practitioner Su, who used the power of the Buddha-light to lift me up and guide me into this brilliance.

The Power of Faith and Deliverance

I want to share these experiences with all of you. It is because of the power of the Buddha that I have been saved. I hope that those who know me, and even those who do not, will come to have faith in the Buddha. Please believe that Namo Amituofo can help everyone achieve liberation. I am a living witness to this truth, and I am filled with gratitude toward the Buddha.

I know that it was my daughter-in-law who helped save me. I am so thankful to her; thank you for your willingness to believe, for it was that faith that allowed me to be rescued.

A Message to My Family

I was never a person who believed in the Buddha during my life, but after arriving at this Buddha-land and seeing how Practitioner Su is truly dedicated to saving people, I was deeply moved. My spirit was saved solely because of Practitioner Su's efforts.

A human life passes by so quickly, but once it ends, who truly knows where they are going? This is the profound realisation I have gained from this journey. Regarding the affairs of the world and my family, I have decided to let go. My family knows that I am doing well, and I hope this brings you all peace of mind. I have now attained Buddhahood, and I hope that you, too, will attain Buddhahood in the future. Do not be overly attached to the trivial matters of this world. When you open your heart, the path ahead will open as well. These are the words I speak to you now, having recently gained this wisdom. I hope you can take these words to heart. I also hope that you will practise chanting Namo Amituofo, so that one day, we may meet again in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss."
