From Darkness to the Light of the Western Pure Land

Lay Practitioner Qiu Yunsheng, the father of Lay Practitioner Qiu Yuqiong, sought deliverance through the compassionate efforts of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. This interview, recorded on December 19, 2025, captures his transition from the darkness of the spirit realms to the radiant peace of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

Lay Practitioner Qiu Yunsheng speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Today, my lotus flower has bloomed and I have seen the Buddha. I have beheld Namo Amituofo, and stepping upon a lotus, I have arrived in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Seeing this scene, I am filled with countless emotions! A heart of gratitude wells up within me. I am so grateful for the Buddha's compassion, and for the mercy of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. It is only because of them that I, Yunsheng, and the other spirits connected by karmic affinity at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, were able to head directly to the West after Practitioner Su sounded the great qing chime."

The Peace of the Dharma-Nature Land

"During my time in the Western Land of Dharma Nature at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, I bathed daily in the Buddha-light and the sound of the Buddha-name. Not for a single moment did any affliction arise in my heart. It was truly a state of genuine peace and happiness!

At this moment, I also feel deeply grateful to my child, Qiu Yuqiong. Thank you for performing the Chao Du for your father. It was only through this that I was able to leave that world which was once dark and devoid of light, and arrive here in this pure, luminous Buddha-land. This is something I never even imagined while I was alive. Before I passed away, I had no concept of life and death; I thought that when a person died, everything simply ceased to exist. In the end, I followed my own mental notes and drifted into the underworld. That place is the world of ghosts. Most people become ghosts after they die; there is nothing strange about that. But now, I feel so light, without a single burden. Only after arriving here did I realise that all my previous concerns were merely burdens. Only when the spirit is truly at ease can one understand this."

A Message to My Family

"I also want to say to my family, my wife, and my children in the human world: you have all worked so hard. Thank you for your tolerance and patience along the way. I hope that you can be like me and return to this world without afflictions as soon as possible. Seeing how difficult life is for you in the human world, I hope even more that you can truly study the Buddha’s teachings early on. Since you have encountered the Buddha, you must grasp this opportunity tightly; do not let such a precious chance slip away.

When I was alive, I did not understand the benefits of studying the Buddha’s teachings. There was no true light in my heart, which is why I ended up in the dark world of the underworld. Now, the light you have encountered is right there at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. Watching everything in the human world from here, I can only sigh in admiration—the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is truly wonderful. It is a precious land in the human world. In our spiritual realms, it shines brilliantly! You may only see a patch of green grass, but you do not know that everywhere is illuminated by the warm Buddha-light golden light.

Well, I will stop here. My sharing is very simple: I just hope that you will follow the Buddha, and keep your hearts at peace and filled with joy. That is all. You must be grateful for the Buddha's compassion, for only then can you draw close to the Buddha. Learn to let go of all the various afflictions of the world; discard everything that is false, and start anew by following the Buddha!"
