This is a record of an interview with Huihui, a spirit who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his six lifetimes of reincarnation as a dog and his final human life. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on September 22, 2023.

Huihui speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Huihui. Thank you, the compassionate Practitioner Su, for bringing me to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I have finally found liberation.

A Cycle of Six Lifetimes

For six lifetimes, I was trapped in the cycle of rebirth, and in every single one of those lives, I was a dog. It has been an incredibly long and arduous journey. Finally, in this lifetime, I have been restored to a human body. Before I began my cycle as a dog, in my very last human life, I was a twelve-year-old boy. I remember it so clearly. I had a dog that I named 'Kadori'—that was the name I chose for him, and I loved him with all my heart. I was born with a congenital heart condition, and the doctors had told my parents long ago that I would not live for very long. To bring me some comfort and , my parents bought Kadori for me, hoping he would walk by my side through my short life.

Kadori began staying with me when I was seven years old. His presence sparked a deep interest in dogs within me. Soon after, my parents fulfilled my wishes again, allowing me to adopt two more dogs. I ended up having three beloved dogs who were my constant companions. I could not run and jump like other children, but whenever I watched my three dogs playing and running happily, I felt as though I were running right along with them. I felt just as happy as they were.

The Boy Who Loved Dogs

When I was twelve, my condition worsened significantly. My three dogs seemed to sense that something was different about me. They would often try to curl up in my arms, as if they were trying to comfort me or perhaps telling me to be strong and not to leave them. I did not want to leave my three beloved dogs either, but the Grim Reaper did not spare me. He cruelly took my life away. Before I drew my final breath, my mind was filled with nothing but thoughts of my dogs. Countless happy memories of the time we spent together flooded my . After I passed away, my spirit left my body. I drifted through a long, confused, and hazy state, and eventually, I entered the womb of a mother dog, beginning my long journey of being reborn as a dog.

A Karmic Connection Across Time

I would like to address the person who saved me as 'Auntie Wang'. Thank you, Auntie Wang, for saving me. Because of you, I was finally able to break free from of a dog and no longer have to suffer. I am not sure if I should say this, but Auntie Wang and I did not just meet in this lifetime. We have a Causal Conditions connection that goes back much further. It is just that, in that past life, Auntie Wang was just like me—she was a dog, too.

In that lifetime, Auntie Wang was a very elegant and pampered little dog, while I was a stray. When I first saw her, she was being held in her owner's arms, clearly cherished and loved. I looked at her with such envy, and I saw her glance at me once before immediately turning her head away. A few days later, I was shocked to see her on the street again. But this time, she was alone. She had no owner with her. She was running everywhere, crying out in distress, looking as if she had lost her way and could not find her owner. Just as she was about to dash across the road, I saw a car speeding toward her. I barked as loudly as I could. She heard my bark and stopped, looking at me with terror in her eyes, which prevented her from running into the path of the car. In that moment, I saved Auntie Wang's life.

A Message of Hope for Other Spirits

Perhaps it is because of that Causal Conditions connection that I was able to meet Auntie Wang again in this life. However, I want to say something to Auntie Wang: I see so many dog spirits around you. There are so many of them following you, and they all long to be saved. If you are willing to save them, they would be so incredibly happy.

Thank you, Auntie Wang, for saving my spirit in this lifetime. I will be forever grateful to you. Namo Amituofo."
