From the Depths of Despair to Eternal Light

This is a record of an interview with Zhu Hongxin, a young Go prodigy who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his tragic passing and his subsequent deliverance into the light of Namo Amituofo. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on July 25, 2025.

Zhu Hongxin speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Zhu Hongxin. Thank you, Practitioner Su. I love it here so much. This place is called the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

I am so happy now. Before, I could not even manage a smile; I did not like to smile at all. But after I arrived at Practitioner Su’s place, I started to be able to smile just a little bit. Now that I have come to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, I smile even more happily than ever before.

A Childhood Lost in Shadows

I really like Namo Amituofo. Namo Amituofo is so compassionate and so gentle. I also like many of the people I see here who look so kind; they are all smiling. It is so bright here. I do not feel afraid at all; I only feel a deep, overflowing happiness.

I do not play Go here, because, to be honest, I do not really like Go anymore. I do not want to think about the things from the past. When I still had my physical body, I had already understood many things, but there were also many things I simply could not comprehend. I knew that I was not living a happy life. I did not want to make the adults angry, so I tried my very best to perform well and be a good child, but sometimes, no matter how hard I tried, things would still go wrong. I just could not help it.

The Weight of Unbearable Pain

My body was in so much pain, and I cried so often, but I had no way to change my circumstances. I did not know what I was supposed to do because I was still just a child. I felt so small and so helpless. I do not want to talk about what happened later, and I do not want to think about it ever again.

After I no longer had my physical body, I still suffered so much. I did not know what I could possibly do to escape that state. I kept crying, feeling so terrified, so angry, and so deeply sad. I remember standing in a very high place, and suddenly, everything turned pitch black. My body felt as if it were being torn apart by pain, a pain so intense that I could not even let out a sound.

The Golden Light of Deliverance

Then, suddenly, a brilliant golden light appeared. It was Practitioner Su. Practitioner Su called out my name, and she reached out to save me. When I was at Practitioner Su’s place, my heart felt so calm and peaceful. I did not have to think about anything at all. Later, I followed along as everyone was chanting Namo Amituofo, and my spirit suddenly seemed to understand so much. Actually, it was not that I suddenly understood; it was that I had always known, because my spirit carries the memories of the past and the reality of the present.

I can see the laws of karma and cause and effect now, and I can see the path I have walked. Thank you to the auntie who helped me, and thank you to everyone who ever wanted to help me. Hongxin thanks you all.

I am so happy now. There is no more pain. I want to do the things I truly love, and I will stay here, following Namo Amituofo, and continue chanting Namo Amituofo. Namo Amituofo."
