The Long Chronicle of Suffering

When we look back upon the five thousand years of Chinese history, we see a narrative written in blood and tears. It is a chronicle of a civilisation that has grown, evolved, and pushed forward through immense suffering and sacrifice. Yet, if we look even further back, beyond the recorded annals of history, we find countless eras of evolution and change. How many lives were sacrificed in those ancient times? How many souls were lost in the tides of change?

For all beings—whether in the six realms of existence, the heavens, or the earth—the history of being reincarnated is far longer than five millennia. It spans across this world, other realms, and the entire Milky Way. Every soul has traversed this vast, cosmic cycle of , and every step of that journey has been marked by the same stains of blood and tears. It is through this very process of suffering that we have grown.

The Purpose of the

The history of the Buddha’s teachings has also been forged within this crucible of suffering. Although the Dharma has faced periods of persecution and hardship, it has also shone with brilliant glory, bestowing infinite benefits upon countless beings. To realise one's true nature, to achieve liberation from the cycle of birth and death, and to attain rebirth in the of Ultimate Bliss—this is the ultimate purpose of studying the Buddha’s teachings.

To attain Buddhahood, one must be willing to release the heavy burdens of the past. We have grown through blood and tears, but these memories and attachments now serve as heavy shackles that prevent us from seeing our true nature. If you do not first learn to let go, you will never find the opportunity to become an awakened being. Once you have reached the state of an awakened being, those who were once your loved ones and companions in the past become the very beings you are destined to save. They are the ones you must help to leave suffering behind and guide toward rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

Seeing Truth and Illusion

As Buddhist practitioners, you must learn to distinguish between the real and the illusory. Do not be led astray by the illusions of this world, for they will prevent you from seeing the truth. Conversely, you must hold fast to the truth, ensuring that your clarity is not obscured by the shadows of illusion.

When the truth is fully revealed and clearly seen, you will break through the layers of darkness. With the purification of , you will embody pure Goodness. By shattering the obstacles of and mind, you will finally realise your true nature. This is the path to attaining Buddhahood and fulfilling the vow to save the world.
