The Echoes of the Heart

When you settle your heart and mind into a state of stillness, what is the nature of the sounds you perceive? Have you ever paused to consider what truly emanates from the deepest recesses of your heart? Many of us go through life without ever truly noticing the subtle, internal dialogues that shape our reality. What are these voices? Are they thoughts, intentions, or perhaps fleeting sensations? They arise from within your own body, feeling entirely real and yet, at the same time, possessing a quality that is as illusory as a dream.

Upon closer inspection, you may realise that these sounds originate from hidden aspects of your own personality. They are parts of you, yet they feel like strangers. They are composed of the same cells as your own body, residing within the same physical vessel. It is only when you quiet your mind that you can truly hear them. In the bustle of daily life, a multitude of different voices clamour for attention, appearing in turn. If your power of awareness is not sufficiently developed, it is difficult to distinguish one from another. These voices have always been present, but their significance shifts constantly, much like your own changing emotions, tones of voice, patterns of thought, and the many different versions of yourself that appear throughout the day.

The Illusion of the Sovereign Self

When these various voices take hold, it signifies that you are no longer the master of your own house. You have lost the ability to be truly yourself. Consequently, can every word that leaves your lips be said to represent your true intent? Often, what we speak does not reflect our original, pure intention. This is the complex mystery of the universe and the fundamental challenge that prevents people from returning to their true self. Every human body is like a miniature universe, containing approximately fifty trillion cells. This implies that there are at least fifty trillion potential issues or karmic seeds within us.

When each of these issues possesses its own complex personality, and they all gather together, what happens? If you lack the strength of meditative concentration and do not understand the correct direction, you may inadvertently allow these influences to take charge. What you say and what you do may no longer be an expression of your true self. Instead, it may be someone else speaking through you—a manifestation that is in sync with your own state, yet one you may not even recognise. This is the truly sobering aspect of our existence. You must listen closely today: do you understand the meaning of the voices emanating from your heart? Are they truly yours, or do they belong to another?

Navigating the Karmic Landscape

Every person faces similar encounters. Unless you can truly take charge, you will remain subject to these influences. However, taking charge is not a simple or easy task. As long as you cling to the concept of a separate self, maintaining control is difficult. The reason is that within this body, there exist so many different lives. Some are connected to the Causal Conditions of your past, while others are tied to the Causal Conditions of this present life. There are far too many complex laws of and cause and effect at play.

As long as you hold onto your own attachments or fixed ideas, it is difficult to maintain a clear and bright body. Within these Causal Conditions, every life seeks to secure its own opportunity—an opportunity to be heard and to express itself. They will manifest in various ways. When you still have a strong sense of self, it is difficult to avoid being in sync with them. This power of being in sync can shorten the distance between spaces. When the spatial distance is small, interference occurs; they may even control or replace you. This is the problem of replication, compounded by the many Causal Conditions that follow the Truth, choosing the most suitable moment to manifest.

The Path to True Liberation

If you are not aware of this, you are easily replaced. The one replacing you is precisely the voice emerging from within your own heart. Have you ever faced this serious issue squarely? This is something everyone should understand: is the expression of your heart truly authentic? The heart is capable of disguise, performance, and even deception. It is easily controlled. If you do not know how to diligently practise your skills, your heart will always be at risk of being replaced. At that point, the changes within your heart will be beyond your ability to predict.

If you wish for your heart to be the master, you must seek the power of the heart itself. The heart belongs to you; you should not allow others to manipulate it. To have no heart means to let go of . By casting aside your emotions and , you allow the heart to return to its original state—a pure, free, and authentic self. A self that has no self is a heart without attachment; it is a heart that is empty and vast. This is a vital practice, yet it is the very self we must recover. When you cannot be the master of yourself, you will be constantly disturbed by unnecessary emotions and influenced by discordant voices. The heart of a practitioner must be able to govern itself, rather than allowing other Causal Conditions to take the lead.

In our practice, we hope to be the master. We should not have our own voices or our own problems. We must be able to manifest our true self authentically. Only in this way can we truly save these connected beings, rather than allowing them to interfere with or influence us. Practise diligently and achieve the result as it is. Only by letting go of the self can you find your true self. I hope that all students can achieve this and master their own true self. Namo Amituofo.
