During the second session of the 2020 Lunar New Year Assembly, we were blessed with profound guidance regarding the nature of our spiritual potential and the path to liberation.
The Equality of Our True Nature
While our true self is fundamentally the same in all beings, our individual potential—our capacity to receive and practise the Dharma—varies greatly. This difference arises because we have been reincarnated through countless lifetimes, each carrying a unique burden of that no one else can bear for us. You must engage in deep self-reflection. Whenever you feel your heart straying from the path, you must realise that this is where the divergence begins. Yet, if you can remain unmoved amidst these differences, you will begin to see your true self.
The Clarity of a Still Mind
Your original nature is inherently pure. By purifying this purity further, you become like water so clear that you can see the very bottom. When the mind reaches this state, the true nature of all phenomena is revealed. This clarity of mind is the hallmark of the wise person, the enlightened one, and the one who possesses true wisdom. Such a person can perceive the varying potentials of all beings and skillfully apply the great Dharma of the to guide them.
Transforming Potential into
What we call potential is often nothing more than the manifestations of the and spiritual attachments that reside within us. When we teach these beings alongside ourselves, allowing them to hear the True Teachings, we are guided by the power of Causal Conditions. By observing this potential and accepting the teachings, we can see our true self. When the truth is fully revealed, the wheel of the True Teachings begins to turn. In this way, we help both ourselves and all other beings to return home to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This teaching was recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
