Reviving the Buddha's Teachings: A Dialogue with Namo Amituofo
Teachings from Namo Amituofo recorded by Practitioner Shi Faxi
May 16, 2017
The Infinite Dimensions of the Realm
On the morning of May 16, 2017, at 4:35 AM, Practitioner Shi Faxi had the honour of receiving teachings from Namo Amituofo. During the morning walking meditation, Namo Amituofo, in His great , personally led the way. Alongside Him, the Bodhisattvas of the Pure Ocean of Great Assembly walked upon lotus flowers, while the ancestral masters and all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas accompanied them. In His great compassion, Namo Amituofo opened the infinitely layered dimensions of the universe, revealing the ten dharma realms one by one. These included the twenty-eight heavens, the Four Sacred Realms, the human world, and countless other planes of existence, all layered in an infinitely layered, intricate web. Practitioner Shi Faxi respectfully requested that Namo Amituofo provide guidance on these profound revelations.
The Turbulent Waves of Samsara
Namo Amituofo offered these teachings:
The human world is like a sea of turbulent waves and crashing storms. Within the ten dharma realms, everything is in a state of constant flux, stretching across immeasurable and boundless space. We are trapped in the cycle of rebirth within this evil world, governed by the influence of our own negative . Now is the time to turn away from these paths and board the ship of the true Dharma.
The nature of the universe is infinitely layered, yet we remain bound by our own attachments. To unravel these layers, one must seek liberation from the cycle of rebirth. Consider the following truths regarding our existence:
- The Weight of Reincarnation: The cycles of reincarnation are so numerous that they are impossible to measure or quantify.
- The Barrier of Space: We are trapped within these infinite dimensions because our own spirits have created these barriers.
- The Mirror of the Mind: Only by returning to the true self—which is like a clear, luminous mirror or the moon reflecting upon still water—can we illuminate the heart and see the Truth.
The Illusion of the Material World
If one does not cleanse the dust from the mind, there is no clarity. When we cling to the existence of things, our vision becomes clouded. Where does this space we perceive truly exist? It is brewed within the heart, manifested by the mind, and transformed by our consciousness. Our spirits are buried under the weight of these .
For immeasurable eons, we have been lost, perhaps without the right conditions to encounter the Truth, trapped in a cycle with no end in sight. Both sentient and insentient beings are caught in this web. We must strive to attain the wisdom that encompasses all things. Our consciousness leads us to dwell in the dust, driven by delusions and discriminations. This causes the to remain hidden, while our physical bodies continue to cycle through lifetimes, carrying the weight of our consciousness and ever-growing emotions.
Cultivating a Pure and Compassionate Heart
These two elements—emotion and consciousness—are what cause even the Buddhas to appear as if they are sinking into the world of dust. It is difficult to leave this realm because the dimensions are infinite. However, we must realise that this space is created by the mind. We are lost in the dust, but we must rise like a lotus from the mud, remaining completely unstained.
To bloom as a radiant lotus, one must focus on cultivating the mind. Practise diligently to brew a good heart. This process of cultivation should be:
- Pure and Good: The only thing being brewed should be pure Goodness, with no trace of evil.
- Gentle and Subtle: Like a fine, clear wine, the cultivation of a lifetime is light and subtle.
- Transcending Colour: When we look back at a life, what colour can truly be called deep? Everything is transient and pale.
The Dream of Existence
Whether things exist or do not exist, all is ultimately blurred. Human life is like a dream, a bubble, or morning dew. It flashes and then vanishes; it is like a bolt of lightning that disappears in an instant, leaving no trace behind. Yet, the consciousness remains. When we speak of space, it is only relevant to the time and place in which we find ourselves. We must learn to let go of love and desire in the present moment.
Today, these dimensions have been opened with the hope that those who have the affinity will be liberated. We have been buried for a thousand kalpas; it is time to wake up quickly. Even the eminent monks who have walked this earth were also subject to these dimensions. We must break through these deluded barriers, seek the peace of the void, find our true self-nature, and let go of all that is false.
Although these words are few, they reveal the nature of space. Where does space truly exist? Fundamentally, it does not exist at all. The affairs of the cycle of rebirth have become an endless burden, difficult to overcome because of our stubborn attachments. Our personalities are hard to subdue, and the suffering we experience is something we bring upon ourselves. In truth, there is no suffering; everywhere can be the of Ultimate Bliss.
In this present time, it is my hope that the Buddha’s teachings can be revived. Spread this Truth, and let the Dharma permeate all ten directions. Practitioner Shi Faxi expressed deep gratitude for the compassionate teachings of Namo Amituofo.
