They expressed a poignant curiosity, asking if the interviewer was indeed the daughter of the practitioner they inhabited.
The Weight of Past Actions
Venerable Fa Xi asked how they had come to reside as these little white worms within the practitioner's body. The spirits recounted a tragic history. They had been long-term labourers and subordinates who were abandoned in the wild after they had passed away. Some had died from extreme exhaustion due to overwork, while others had perished as a result of cruel abuse. They had lived in constant fear, never daring to slacken in their duties or even share a moment of . Their lives were filled with hardship, and even after death, their bodies were left to decay without anyone to collect the bodies or provide a proper burial.

Venerable Fa Xi thanked them for their sincerity and asked how many spirits were present. They replied that there were one hundred and seventy-six of them in total. They understood the rules of the path and expressed their willingness to listen to the sutras to aid in their purification. One of the spirits identified himself as Xu Kuntu, and they all offered their deepest gratitude for the chance to leave suffering behind and find happiness through the grace of Namo Amituofo.
