The Vessel of Our Existence

The human body is like a vessel, with capacities that vary from one to another. Whether a vessel is clean or soiled, its shape, its material, and its ability to withstand heat—all these differ. Yet, amidst these many differences, there is a commonality: all are vessels designed to hold their contents, and all are beings shaped by .

The Karmic Tapestry of

The body is an assembly of karmic beings. Within this vessel resides a spirit, subject to the retributions dictated by its own past deeds. Whether this vessel is perceived as pure or impure, it is not a matter of choice; it is the result of karma, carried into this life without autonomy. Every aspect of your being—the cells, the internal organs, and your physical constitution—is formed according to this karmic history. Throughout life, you experience constant change, with your journey unfolding according to the specific nature of your karma.

The Precious Opportunity for

However, this body and mind possess a profound potential: the ability to elevate the quality of one's spirit and to engage in True Cultivation to see their true nature. Spirits in other realms cannot use their forms to practise in this way. In those spaces, it is difficult to hear the Buddha’s teachings, and they remain unable to transform their karma, with no prospect of seeing their true nature. This is why the human body is so precious.

A Call to Diligent Practice

Students of Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, you must make the best use of this body and spirit. Engage in diligent practice and do not let this rare and difficult-to-obtain human life pass by in vain. Namo Amituofo.
