The Boundless Power of Deliverance
An Interview with Venerable Yongning
Recorded on July 2, 2019
This is a record of an interview with Venerable Yongning, who reflects on the immense power of deliverance witnessed at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on July 2, 2019.
Venerable Yongning speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. When we contemplate the vastness of the universe in relation to the human physical body, is akin to a single, infinitesimal grain of sand. The composition of the universe is replete with countless life forms. These life forms, through various transformations, eventually disperse throughout the cosmos. The universe encompasses all things, and different beings, according to their own mental notes, drift toward the ten directions. If I had not witnessed this with my own eyes, I could never have imagined the sheer scale of the universe, nor could I have fathomed how one might begin to save such a multitude of beings.
The Cosmic Journey of Deliverance
Practitioner Su leads us all, travelling through the cosmos in the brief span of just a few recitations of the Buddha-name. As we move, he emits a boundless Buddha-light. All the spirits are filled with curiosity, wondering what kind of power could cause the energy of entire planets to shift in an instant. They ask, where does this full, golden light come from? The light travels at the speed of thought, pushing forward until it reaches places beyond our sight. The ancestral masters and venerable ones gather together in a vast, golden space that has no visible boundaries. Within this golden light, there are traces of rapid movement, which then vanish into the unseen horizon, following the Causal Conditions to reach their final destination.
The Layers of Spiritual Existence
The layers of the spiritual realm are like ocean waves, overlapping and teeming with beings from every corner of existence. There are beings from outer space, ancient practitioners, beings from the demon realms who traverse different spaces, and spirits from various levels of existence. Their forms vary—some are large, some are small, and some possess truly strange shapes. These forms are entirely a reflection of their own inner character. Because of the differences in their heart-nature, they fall into their respective spaces, unable to leave, and often not even knowing how to leave. Many do not even realise that departure is possible. The interplay of time and space is constantly unfolding everywhere in the universe. In the heavens, they are in the heavens; from brightness, they enter into greater brightness.
The of Practitioner Su
Boundless numbers of beings are rushing toward the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Namo Amituofo extends his hands to lead them, while the Bodhisattvas of the pure ocean-wide assembly smile as they step upon lotus flowers. These lotus flowers are scattered everywhere. As long as there is one practitioner who sincerely chants the Buddha-name, they will receive their own colourful lotus. Whether inside or outside the universe, the deliverance of beings is equally magnificent. Since the Buddha’s teachings were first established, there has never been a as great as what is being performed today.
Practitioner Su never rests; he exerts his physical body to its absolute limit. He has set aside the comforts he might have enjoyed, dedicating his entire being to fulfilling the Buddha-vow. He leads the Chao Du of ten thousand spirits throughout the universe, and the development of this work in the human world is being actively pursued. Such deliverance is born from a unique resolve, a unique vow, and a unique sincerity. It is the true power of great compassion, which knows no fear. Even though his physical body has been wounded for the sake of all beings, he remains steadfast in his practice until he returns to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is the heart of Practitioner Su in saving beings—it is boundless and vast. We, the assembly of Yongning, vow to follow him always. Namo Amituofo."
