The Deliverance of Lay Practitioner Huang Mantian

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Huang Mantian, the father of Lay Practitioner Huang Zhenqiang. He sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia and now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition from the cycle of rebirth to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on May 2, 2025.

Lay Practitioner Huang Mantian speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am truly filled with gratitude. I am so grateful to the Buddha and to Practitioner Su for saving me. They have allowed my heart to become so stable, so calm, and so peaceful. There is a force that constantly makes me feel joyful, surrounding me and filling my entire being. The power of the Buddha is truly inconceivable. My heart is overflowing with gratitude.

The Agony of the Unknown

During my life, I was absolutely terrified of the pain of death. I never imagined that after passing away, I would fall into such chaos, descending into a dark place where I could only wail and suffer. I had no idea what was happening to me, yet my body was in such excruciating pain. I endured that suffering for what felt like an eternity, until a powerful force reached out to save me. It allowed me to wake up, and only then did the torment I had been suffering finally come to an end.

The Head was still in a state of total confusion, but the brilliant light of the Buddha-land slowly began to purify me, helping me to regain my clarity. It was then that I finally understood: everything I had suffered was the result of the laws of karma and cause and effect.

Acceptance and Karmic Debt

Once I understood this, I did not have a single complaint. I realised that the debts I owed had to be repaid; that is simply how the laws of karma and cause and effect work. Day after day, I became more pure and more clear-minded. I gradually came to know Namo Amituofo and the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

The connection in my heart let me know that my wife had already reached the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. She now appears as she did in her youth, possessing that dignity described in the Buddha’s teachings. Seeing her like that filled my heart with such joy. After witnessing this, my faith in the Buddha became even stronger.

A Family Reunited in Spirit

I also saw my son and daughter-in-law serving within the Buddha-land. They were chanting the Buddha-name, and their faces were filled with smiles. They were no longer weighed down by the busy, stressful days of the past, and seeing that made me so very happy.

I began to learn to chant the Buddha-name, and with each passing phrase, I felt more and more joy. Everything in the Buddha-land brings me happiness; it makes me believe in the Buddha and makes me willing to let go of the past. I am so grateful to the Buddha, and I am grateful for this opportunity to follow Him. Now that I have attained the state of a Buddha, and seeing that my son and daughter-in-law possess such good roots, I am truly joyful. I hope that in this lifetime, you can help yourselves and many more people connected by karmic affinity to be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

Remember to follow the Buddha and smile every single day. If you do that, I will be able to rest at ease and continue my practice well with the Buddha.
