Teachings from Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju

The Lament of the Ocean Depths
In the vast oceans and harbours, countless fish, shrimp, crabs, and shellfish, along with deep-sea creatures and fresh seafood, are harvested in great numbers. These beings fill the waters, and their spirits linger in layers of space, orbiting our world. At different times, they are caught, butchered, and slaughtered for human consumption. What many people consider a gourmet paradise is, for these sentient beings, a place of endless weeping and wailing. The for this consumption is heavy. It often manifests as physical difficulty and illness, as the digestive system becomes a site of karmic obstruction, reflecting the suffering inflicted upon these creatures.
