This is a record of an interview with the entity known as the Demon King of Panic, who was encountered during the height of the pandemic and addressed by the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. This account reflects upon the nature of fear, the collective negative energy of humanity, and the struggle between darkness and the light of the . Recorded by the chief writer, Venerable Fa-Jing, on March 20, 2020.

The Demon King of Panic speaks:

"Panic! Chaos! The more the world descends into turmoil, the more I laugh! I have grasped the key triggers that drive humanity into a frenzy. I can make hearts tremble and fill every corner of the world with fear and unease. This kind of suffering—this deep, gnawing anxiety—is something for which there is no medicine!"

"No matter what disease appears, humans will always scramble to manufacture drugs to counteract it. But when the heart is unsettled? Ha! There is no cure for that! This is the greatest torture I can inflict upon humanity; it is the cruelest punishment. I want humans to taste this specific agony—the feeling of utter helplessness and profound insecurity. Only when I see the hearts of men in turmoil does my own heart feel a sense of satisfaction."

The Architecture of Fear

"Humans are terrified of death. As long as I manufacture the fear of dying, they will become frantic and terrified. Humans are terrified of loss, so I let them lose everything they care about, piece by piece, slowly. This kind of anxiety is far more painful than death itself! Humans are terrified of loneliness, so I ensure their hearts feel increasingly isolated, convinced they have no one to rely on. Naturally, their hearts become restless. Humans are terrified of failure, so I amplify their obsession with gain and loss until they are paralysed by the fear of falling. That kind of fear is enough to destroy a human body entirely. Tell me, is panic and anxiety not the true king of this world? I am that king—I am the Demon King of Panic."

"I have been watching your little centre for quite some time. I was baffled, because there has never been a medicine in this world that could stand against my 'anxiety.' And yet, the Dharma spoken by Practitioner Su is actually capable of bringing peace to the human heart! He even emphasises 'peace and within the heart,' 'body-mind therapy,' and 'no sickness, no death'! If such a Dharma were to be spread widely throughout the world, there would be no place left for me, the Demon King of Panic, to exist!"

The Nature of the Demon

"That is why I have been constantly obstructing it. I am not just blocking Practitioner Su; I am blocking the world from coming into contact with this Dharma, because I understand the human heart. The human heart is filled with inferior qualities. With just a tiny temptation of desire, I can immediately bewilder them. For a bewildered heart to encounter such a Dharma? That is not an easy task at all!"

"I am a demon. A demon has no reason not to do evil; otherwise, I would not be a demon. I have never been human, and I have absolutely no connection to humanity. I am a massive force of demonic power existing within the universe. I can change my appearance at will. When I come to Earth, I take on a human form; when I go to other planets, I shift into a shape they find familiar. Wherever I am needed, I appear. Today, Earth is my primary target because the hearts of the people here are treacherous. The humans on Earth were originally simple-minded, but they have evolved into something else entirely. Until this very moment, their hearts have become indistinguishable from the heart of a demon! If we can control the hearts and minds of all humanity, then there will be one more 'demon planet' in the universe. That is truly something worth celebrating."

The Collective Shadow

"My name is the Demon King of Panic, the leader of all demons. I can transform into the Demon of Greed, the Demon of Lust, the Demon of Anger, or the Demon of Arrogance. I can become any demon I choose, but I prefer to be called the Demon King of Panic. As long as I make the human heart panic, they will do anything. Even without me doing anything to them, they will naturally commit all sorts of arrogant and reckless acts. Therefore, panic is the root. I hold onto this source, and that is enough to keep the entire world in a state of chaos."

"You must be curious: why did I become a demon? Who am I really? I cannot answer that for you, because I am the 'demon nature' within your own hearts. I am the collective entity of every single one of you. It is because of the existence of these evil qualities in the human heart that I exist today. Throughout the entire universe, there is a powerful force of evil. That force comes from the natural gravitational pull generated in various spaces across the universe. That pull can drive the people on various planets to commit evil. Once the people on those planets have evil thoughts, they further increase the strength of this evil force. I am a spirit body that has branched off from this force of evil."

The Cycle of Good and Evil

"I am a powerful negative energy that can weaken all positive energy. Wherever I exist, their positive power is diminished by my evil force. If a human heart resonates with me, my power can multiply exponentially. Eventually, all positive energy is absorbed and replaced by my negative energy, and then I continue to develop into other spaces in the universe. Everywhere I pass, I leave my mark. Very quickly, the hearts of the people on that planet begin to mutate—that is the extension of my power."

"There must be evil to highlight what is good. If there were only good in the universe and no evil, the entire universe would cease to function. Therefore, both good and evil must exist. This means that demons have a necessity to exist. Demons and Buddhas coexist; it is the demon that 'achieves' the Buddha. Without the demon, there would be no need for the Buddha to exist. It is just like the human heart: if it were pure and without evil, stable and without anxiety, then why would you need to chant the Buddha's name? Why would you need 'peace and joy within the heart'? It is only because of the appearance of demons that you 'Buddha-chanters' have a reason to exist! I have said enough!"

Venerable Fa-Jing: "Please wait. Practitioner Su has sent you to the Dharma-Nature Land today. Can you still exist in the universe after that?"

Demon King of Panic: "I am an energy force with an evil nature. Energy can extend infinitely. Where is there no evil? Wherever there is evil force, that is where I exist. Today, Practitioner Su only took away a small portion of my evil energy and sent it to the Dharma-Nature Land. That evil energy was replaced by the positive energy of the Dharma-Nature Land and simply vanished. To put it clearly, many of my 'clones'—the evil energy formed by them—were subdued. But the true me, the original Demon King of Panic, is still here! Today, it was just a 'little demon' who came to your precious centre to say hello. The real Demon King of Panic is still in the universe talking to you right now! Ha! I still intend to destroy the Earth; how could I be captured by you so easily? I sacrificed a few 'little demons' to you, but it is of no consequence to me. Because the evil nature and the deep-rooted bad habits of humanity can increase my energy at any time, I can give birth to immeasurable and boundless 'little demons' again."

The Final Warning

Venerable Fa-Jing: "This pandemic has already caused immense panic among humans, and it is still spreading. Can you stop now? Can you just end it here?"

Demon King of Panic: "Absurd! Do you know that the Buddha does not only appear on Earth? But the people of Earth do not believe in the Buddha. Even if they claim to believe, they do not truly believe; they continue to do as they please, acting in whatever way they like. Since the power of the Buddha cannot produce an effect on the human heart, then let the power of the demon replace everything. Humans like to listen to what we demons say, because it is easy for humans to do evil and difficult to do good. Furthermore, humans have extremely strong inertia; they can perform evil acts quite convincingly without expending much effort. To do good, they have to go through a process of learning, and they might not even learn it well. It is better to let the demon rule everything; humans can live a much more relaxed life that way."

Venerable Fa-Jing: "Humans suffer in the cycle of rebirth because of their evil deeds. The Buddha has come to help people find their original, pure, and good selves. Only by stopping evil deeds and diligently chanting the name of the Buddha can one truly achieve liberation and leave suffering behind."

Demon King of Panic: "Once one becomes a demon, one no longer feels suffering. I am constantly absorbing this illegal, immoral, and non-virtuous power to strengthen myself. I am growing every moment, and I am laughing heartily every moment! I laugh at the people of the world who increase my energy every day, not knowing that they are slowly destroying themselves! My power is spreading infinitely. I want to wrap the Earth tightly; not a single human on Earth will be able to escape easily. Even you group of Buddha-chanters—is the bottom of your hearts truly pure? My power is everywhere. As long as there is a tiny crack, I can penetrate it. Can your hearts really be so pure that there is not even a single dark crack? Hahaha!"

Venerable Fa-Jing: "The power of the Demon King of Panic is indeed strong. What would it take for you to be willing to stop?"

Demon King of Panic: "I do not have the spare time to talk to you so much." (Message interrupted)
