This is a record of an interview with the spirit of Lee Kuan Yew, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Pure Land. This account reflects upon his insights into the practice of Buddhism. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on June 11, 2018.

Lee Kuan Yew speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Lee Kuan Yew. Since arriving in the Western Pure Land, I have spent my time listening to the teachings of the Buddha. I have come to realise that the path to liberation is like the meticulous process of setting up a complex display of dominoes. It demands absolute focus; a single moment of distraction can undo hours of effort. The one feels at the moment of completion, when the dominoes are perfectly aligned, is beyond words. That moment, when the chain reaction begins and the dominoes cascade in a rhythmic pattern, reveals a different perspective."

The Discipline of the Heart

"I share this metaphor to encourage all of you learning the Buddha’s teachings. Many believe that simply chanting the Buddha-name is enough to guarantee rebirth in the Western Pure Land, but it is not that simple. The most critical requirement is overcoming one's own temperament. When arranging dominoes, if you lose your temper, your hand will shake, and the structure will collapse. It is the same with a practitioner. If you allow your temper to flare, your entire practice is lost. You must cultivate a heart that is as steady as the hand of a master domino artist."

The Power of Positive Energy

"Learning the Buddha’s teachings should bring you increasing joy. You must believe that you are capable of achieving this goal. This positive energy drives you forward. As you continue to chant, the Buddha-name becomes solidified within your . You will begin to see the true purity that resides within your own heart. That sense of clarity is something you must realise for yourself; you must experience it through your own meditative concentration."

Spreading the Magnificent

"Once you have realised this truth, you must allow this magnificent Dharma to spread outward, just as the dominoes spread their movement. The falling of the dominoes is a perfect representation of how the Buddha’s teachings should propagate. The magnificence of the Dharma lies in its ability to help more people understand the vital importance of seeking rebirth in the Western Pure Land. It is the only way to truly achieve liberation for a soul that has been suffering for so long. I am grateful to share these reflections. Namo Amituofo."
