The Original State of the Spirit

Simplicity is the fundamental nature of the spirit before karma is activated. It reflects the true state of the spirit that governs the physical body. When one is simple and free from defilement, the body and mind remain pure. Through the process of purification, it becomes much easier for a practitioner to attain the state of an awakened being.

The Awakening of Karma

Consider the state of a newborn infant. They are originally simple, pure, and unstained by the world. However, once a person begins to interact with the external environment, the dormant memories and consciousness stored within the spirit are awakened by various needs and thoughts. As these thoughts collide with the world, the consciousness begins to function, and the cycle of life begins to turn:

• Causal Conditions begin to pull the spirit in different directions.
• One's destiny begins to shift and turn according to these conditions.
• Karma then manifests in one's life, creating the complex situations we face daily.

If your keen awareness is obstructed by these layers of experience, you remain trapped within the cycle of destiny and karma. In such a state, it is not easy to find your way back to your true self.

The Path to Liberation at Hsiang Kuang

My children, this includes the karmic creditors residing within your bodies. In this Five Turbidities and Evil World, it is extremely difficult to achieve true purification and attain the state of an awakened being through your own power alone.

Now, at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, you have the benefit of the Buddha's blessings from Namo Amituofo. I hope all of you will grasp this magnificent Dharma affinity. You must quickly chant Namo Amituofo to enter the light. By doing so, Namo Amituofo will surely lead you to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
