Teachings from Namo Amituofo, recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe.

On the fifteenth of March, 2024, during the midday offering, Namo Amituofo provided the following discourse on the nature of Truth.

The Boundless Reach of Reality

The Truth is the ultimate reality of all things. It is not a local or temporary phenomenon; rather, it is a fundamental constant that applies equally to every corner of the universe, across every galaxy, and throughout every dimension of time and space. Because it is the absolute reality, it remains unchanged regardless of our or our limited human understanding.

The Shifting Veil of Impermanence

When we find ourselves caught in the current of impermanence, our vision becomes clouded. In this state, the Truth may appear to be obscured, hidden, or even distorted. This occurs because the world of impermanence is inherently unstable and shifting; it is not the eternal, unchanging reality. When we focus only on the fleeting appearances of the world, we lose sight of the underlying Truth that sustains all existence.

The Hidden Roots of

The Truth is most clearly revealed through the laws of karma and cause and effect. However, even when people are aware that these laws exist, they often struggle to perceive the specific causes that have led to their current circumstances. It is difficult for the ordinary mind to understand that the fruits we experience today are simply the manifestation of the Truth in action. Because we are often preoccupied with the Body-Mind-Spirit and the way we suffer greatly from these fruits, we frequently fall into cycles of negative emotion.

The Compassionate Wisdom of the

If we possessed the ability to see into the past, we would be able to recognise the causes that have ripened into our present difficulties. With such clarity, we would be able to accept our current circumstances with a peaceful heart. This is why it is said that Bodhisattvas fear the cause, while ordinary beings fear the fruit. By understanding this distinction, one can appreciate the profound importance of living in accordance with the Truth.

Returning to the Source of Being

When the Truth is presented through the laws of karma and cause and effect, we require the guidance of Buddha or Bodhisattva, those who have realised their true nature, and true spiritual friend to help us see clearly. Their guidance allows us to:

  • Deepen our understanding of the Truth.Comply with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way
  • in our daily lives.Walk firmly upon the righteous path
  • without fear or hesitation.Practise the Truth with sincerity and dedication.

This is what we call true practice. Only by aligning our lives with the Truth and the righteous path can we find the opportunity to rediscover our true self and return to the source of our being.
