The Eternal Truths That Transcend Time
Teachings from Namo Amituofo
Recorded on December 15, 2024
Recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
On this day, the fifteenth of December, 2024, we reflect upon the nature of existence. We must ask ourselves: what is it that remains unchanged throughout the ages? What is it that persists, regardless of the shifting tides of history or the passage of countless lifetimes?
The Unchanging Laws of the Universe
The Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, along with the laws of and cause and effect, are natural laws. They are not limited by time or space. Whether in this world or in other realms, these truths remain constant. They have been true since the beginning of time and will remain true forever. They are the foundation upon which all existence rests, and they never waver.
The Compassionate Vow to Save All Beings
The heart of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, which seeks to save all beings and help them leave suffering behind, is a heart that never retreats. It is a heart that is upright and sincere, wishing only for the liberation of all beings. The , , and Selfless Giving, combined with the Wisdom (Prajna) of the practitioner, are the same throughout time. These virtues are the light that guides us home.
The Eternal Nature of the Spirit
Every being possesses the true self and Buddha-nature. This nature is eternal; it does not diminish or disappear. It waits for us to find it again, to let it shine, and to save all suffering beings. This truth has been the same in the past, is the same in the present, and will be the same in the future. It is a constant that never changes.
Breaking the Cycle of Samsara
The cycle of rebirth in the six realms of rebirth is a continuous, exhausting process. We create karma and suffer endlessly. This cycle has persisted throughout history, and it continues today. Unless a practitioner uses great effort to transform karma, the cycle of life and death will not cease. To break free, one must:
- Diligently chant Buddha's name to purify the mind.
- Make the sincere vow to be reborn in the of Ultimate Bliss.
- Transform karma through the power of the Buddha's name.
Even if we change our form countless times through the six realms of rebirth, our spirit remains eternal. It is unborn and undying. It is a flame that does not extinguish, transcending the very concept of life and death.
