The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Day after day, this cycle continues without rest. All living things rely upon this light; it is the source of life and growth. Truly, the sun is a great benefactor to all sentient beings.

The Impartial Light of the Sun

The sun shines its light upon the earth without any selfishness. Every being receives this illumination equally. However, because each being carries their own unique karmic causes, the fruits they reap from this light differ greatly. This is the nature of cause and effect.

The Choice Between Self and Others

If you live for the sake of all beings, your body becomes precious and useful. You can enter the path of purity and Goodness. Conversely, if you live only for yourself, your body remains entangled in the heavy chains of . If you try to balance living for others and living for yourself, your body remains a mixture of impurity and purity, making it difficult to achieve true clarity.

  • Living for others: You plant the seeds of purity and Goodness, which will eventually yield the fruit of purity and Goodness.
  • Living for oneself: You plant the seeds of impure karma, which will inevitably lead to the bitter fruits of suffering and the cycle of rebirth.

The Golden Light of Namo Amituofo

When the first rays of the morning sun rise in the east, the sky is painted in a brilliant, clear blue. A pure, golden light spreads across the horizon. This is not merely the sun; it is the Buddha-light of Namo Amituofo, bestowed upon the earth and all the creatures in the sky. Those in the human world, the Realm, and the heavenly realms who witness this light feel a deep sense of and praise. Their hearts are filled with happiness. Through this light, they attain:

  • Purity: A cleansing of , mind, and spirit.
  • Liberation: Freedom from the heavy burdens of the past.
  • Stability: A sense of peace and security in their practice.
  • Good roots: A strengthening of their faith in the Buddha and in their own potential.
  • Wisdom: A deepening of their understanding, which helps to resolve all doubts.

When the morning sun rises at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, one can truly see the beauty of the Western Pure Land.
