The Heart of Selflessness

To save the world and deliver sentient beings, Practitioner Su spares no cost. He is even willing to bear the suffering of others if it means they can be saved. The Wisdom of Practitioner Su is inexhaustible because it is never used for his own benefit, but entirely for the sake of all beings. This is the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way: to let go of to benefit all living things.

Since I began my role as a protector, I have observed that every true practitioner shares a common characteristic: they have truly let go of the self. When one has no self, one becomes selfless and free from the ego. One is no longer bound by discriminations or attachments. Consequently, the scope of the beings one can save becomes vast and boundless. As Fan Zhongyan wrote in the Yueyang Tower Record, one should be the first to worry about the world's troubles and the last to enjoy its pleasures.

for All Beings

Practitioner Su possesses an even broader character. He saves beings naturally, without any intention of his own. Consider his recent efforts to bring rain. Who else would have thought of the plight of the creatures in the ponds? When the water dries up, what happens to the aquatic life, the insects, and the tiny creatures? Practitioner Su is more sensitive than the average person because he possesses a heart of pure compassion. He can hear the cries for help from all spirits.

To improve the situation and benefit these spirits, he began to pray for rain. When the rain finally fell, all things on earth were filled with gratitude toward Practitioner Su. I have witnessed Practitioner Su from his very first act of to the present day, and the number of spirits he has saved is immeasurable. He has successfully prayed for rain many times, and each time, he counsels the spirits of the earth, the grass, the trees, and all crawling and flying creatures to chant Namo Amituofo together. However, this time, the greed and chaotic behaviour of the insects caused Practitioner Su to suffer physically. He had to bear the pain on behalf of these beings. Furthermore, he had to endure the demands of the of the fourfold assembly, as many disciples have yet to truly correct their habits.

The Indestructible Vajra Body

Since the commencement of the Dharma assembly, I have seen countless spirits—including Bodhisattvas from the universe and the Milky Way, as well as new followers of the Buddha—all come to be saved by Practitioner Su. They take refuge in the Buddha and join the salvation team. These spirits now understand the power of the purification process, and many naturally depart from Practitioner Su's body once they are cleansed.

Practitioner Su is the wisest of all. He uses his Wisdom to protect himself with what we call the Indestructible Vajra Body. When spirits approach him, this protective field automatically deflects them to the Dharma-Nature Land, ensuring they do not interfere with his work. This is the compassion of Practitioner Su, who thinks of these spirits at every turn. He cannot bear to see them fall into the hells, so he ensures they are first sent to the Dharma-Nature Land to listen to the Dharma.

I am particularly concerned for the physical body of Practitioner Su. Seeing that he possesses this Indestructible Vajra Body brings me great . During the purification process, when we extract these spirits, I often fear that external spirits might interfere with Practitioner Su and cause him harm, which would be a failure of my duty. Currently, he is purifying the remnants of spirits left behind by shamanic needle-stabbing, which causes Practitioner Su to feel as if his cells are being pricked. The Indestructible Vajra Body provides the perfect protection, which puts my mind at ease.

The Work of Salvation

During the Dharma assembly, Practitioner Su does more than lead the fourfold assembly in chanting Namo Amituofo. He also guides sentient beings toward rebirth in the and prays for rain. He relies on his countless manifestations of the to save every being that can be saved, refusing to abandon even one soul to the suffering of the cycle of rebirth. This is the true conduct of a Buddha.

In Goombungee and Toowoomba, Australia, the arrival of Practitioner Su and his chanting team has revitalised the entire landscape. Following the rain, the earthly creatures have become active, and the flowers, trees, and plants have flourished, growing lush and green. The spirits in the space around us now understand how to grasp the opportunity to chant the six-character name—Namo Amituofo—and seek Spiritual Deliverance. As a Dharma protector, my duty is not only to maintain order among the spirits during the Dharma assembly but also to chant Namo Amituofo alongside the congregation. I also remind the spirits nearby to chant and seek rebirth in the Western Pure Land. Namo Amituofo.

Namo Amituofo.

This message was recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Shi Haiyuan.
