Interview with Zhao Ning (Co-founder of WuXi AppTec)
This is a record of an interview with the spirit of Steve Jobs, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This testimony was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on September 19, 2022.
Steve Jobs speaks:
". During this time spent observing the 'Great Figure'—the person I was in the world—I have begun to truly empathise with his predicament. Many of the things that the Great Figure said were not the true words of his heart. Often, there was a sense of helplessness; he simply could not speak the truth.
His physical reflexes had been trained into such a deep habit that even when he was speaking the opposite of what he felt, his facial expressions remained largely unchanged. Only his heart knew the truth. There would be a subtle movement within, a flicker of awareness, but that movement would quickly return to a state of forced calm. The 'self' deep inside was like someone who knew they had done wrong, yet chose to cover their face and curl up in a ball, refusing to face the reality of the situation. It was as if the Great Figure had locked his true self away in a dark room. When I saw him doing this, I noticed that many sentient beings would draw closer to him, surrounding him. The tighter these beings bound him, the less he was able to express his own true nature.
Time and time again, the Great Figure felt a crushing weight pressing down upon him. This sensation grew stronger and stronger, making it increasingly difficult for him to stretch out or act with any sense of freedom. Although he appeared to the world to be achieving ever-greater spiritual success and worldly influence, his inner heart was, for the most part, being squeezed and constricted.
Many times, he exhibited reactions that were quite different from his own; in reality, they were not his reactions at all, but rather the reactions of the beings clinging to him. The Great Figure could not control himself. Often, he was dragged along by these beings, with wave after wave of beings rising up to take control of his actions. Seeing this situation now, I feel a profound sense of lament.
How many talented people in this world are suffering from this exact same internal condition? No one knows, and no one has been able to unlock this mystery for them. For a long time, I, Steve Jobs, knew that I could not change the status quo. However, if there are any beings out there who are willing to listen to a word of counseling from me, I will do my utmost to guide them. I have done my best, and I continue to do so.
