The Journey Home to the Western Land

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Xue Qingyou, the grandfather of Lay Practitioner Xue Meiling, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his long journey through the reincarnated cycle and his eventual liberation. Lay Practitioner Xue Qingyou speaks:

"I bow deeply, my heart overflowing with gratitude to the Buddha and to Practitioner Su. Without your boundless compassion and grace, I would still be lost, wandering aimlessly in the darkness, never knowing how much longer I would have to remain reincarnated. I am truly humbled by this salvation."

The Radiance of the Treasure Lotus Pond

"Now, as I look upon the brilliant light before me, I can hardly believe it is real. Yet, I realise that this light has always been within my heart—it was my deepest, most hidden wish. Now that it has been fulfilled, and I am walking towards this infinite radiance, my heart is filled with such profound gratitude.

Upon arriving in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I dipped my feet into the Treasure Lotus Pond. The water there is so light, so ethereal, shimmering with a brilliant golden light. The temperature of the water is perfectly soothing. As I gaze out at this golden world, my heart feels vast and open. It is a sensation I have not experienced in such a long, long time—it is incredibly cool and refreshing."

The Power of Letting Go

"In the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I have returned to the original state of my spirits. I carry with me a heart of pure Goodness, and for the first time in eons, there is a genuine smile upon my face.

I remember the moment I made the vow to seek rebirth in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I knew then that I had to let go—to truly release all the attachments I held onto in the world. The moment I made that decision to let go, my entire being was filled with an immense, surging energy. I knew deep down that this was the Buddha’s encouragement, guiding me forward.

When my suffering spirit was first saved, I was still quite lost and confused; I could not fully wake up from the haze of my past. But as the purification continued, I gradually began to understand that I had been trapped in the reincarnated cycle for ages, constantly changing into different forms. I know now that I had done both good deeds and bad deeds throughout those many lives."

A Karmic Connection Across Lifetimes

"This opportunity to reach the Buddha-land is one I have waited for across many lifetimes. To have this Causal Condition finally manifest, I must express my deepest gratitude to my granddaughter in this lifetime. It was her kindness and her filial piety that helped me find my way.

I still have family in the world, but I understand now that everything is merely a gathering and scattering of Causal Conditions; nothing can be predicted or held onto forever. I used to yearn for the times I spent with my family, but now, I send them my deepest blessings. I truly hope that my beloved family members can live well.

The suffering of the reincarnated cycle has finally woken me up. I only hope that my family will also have the chance to awaken, to see the truth, and to choose the path of liberation. I am so grateful for the arrangement of all these Causal Conditions, and I am eternally grateful to the Buddha."
