The Ocean of Mind and the Purpose of Life
An Interview with the Spirit of Lee Kuan Yew
Recorded on August 8, 2018, at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre
This interview was recorded on August 8, 2018, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. The spirit of Lee Kuan Yew, the former Prime Minister of Singapore, sought deliverance through the compassionate guidance of Practitioner Su. Having attained clarity regarding the true purpose of existence, he shares his insights on the nature of the mind and the path to liberation.
Lee Kuan Yew speaks:
"Consider the boundless ocean. It receives rivers, streams, melting snow, and rainfall from every direction. No matter how much water flows into it, the ocean remains unchanged. Its vastness and breadth are beyond the capacity of words to describe. This very quality—this immense mind-capacity—is the ultimate goal that every practitioner must strive to attain. When one reaches this state, no matter how 'dirty' the water that flows in, or how one is treated by the world, there is no reaction. There is only unconditional acceptance and inclusion.
Expanding the Boundaries of the Heart
Perhaps at the beginning of one's practice, this breadth is not yet fully realised. However, through the process of learning, of seeing through and letting go, one can gradually expand the mind. You start by transforming your mind from a small pond into a stream. As you continue to open your heart to accept all things, you become a river. You then share everything you have learned with the masses, understanding the Truth and the reality of existence. As you progress further, you form broad, virtuous connections with all sentient beings in the realm throughout the vastness of the Dharma Realm. You transmit the true Dharma and the true intent of Namo Amituofo into the void.
A Universal
Whether it be good or evil, flowers, grasses, trees, or animals—wolves, tigers, leopards, chickens, ducks, geese, fish, cattle, or the smallest crawling insects—or even the invisible beings of the six realms of existence, you must form broad, virtuous connections with them all. Counsel them to chant the holy name of Namo Amituofo and guide them to rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is exactly what Practitioner Su demonstrates. Today, I, Lee Kuan Yew, have witnessed how these teachings are truly implemented in daily life. Every morning, Practitioner Su uses her to continuously perform for the spirits throughout the vastness of the Dharma Realm. This is not an illusion, nor is it a deception; it is the manifestation of genuine, cultivated virtue.
Finding Your True Direction
Every person, provided they are willing to put in the effort and truly see through and let go, can learn this and succeed. By verifying these skills, you will attain peace of mind and a profound sense of security. You will find your life's purpose and the direction for your future. Give yourself a holiday, give yourself an opportunity to transform. Perhaps this is exactly the life goal and the Truth you have been searching for. Only by finding your own original nature and overcoming your innate personality and resistance can you truly attain this.
A Final Reflection
No matter how much I say, it will never be as real as your own personal experience. Hsien Loong, you have spent your whole life busy with worldly affairs. It is time to give yourself a holiday from life. Cast aside all the dust and worldly concerns, and come here to experience a different way of living. Perhaps you will discover that this is the true life and the place where you truly belong. That is all for today. Think about it carefully. Namo Amituofo."
This message was recorded by the chief writer, disciple Shi Facie.
