The Wisdom of the Practitioner

Words of Namo Amituofo. Recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe.

Discourse of Namo Amituofo:

When the winds and rains arrive, people often debate whether they are good or bad. If the rain is beneficial, it nourishes the vast earth and resolves the suffering caused by disaster. However, if it is destructive, it brings calamity upon calamity, which is certainly not what is needed. To achieve a balance that benefits all, the true practitioner must recognise what is required at any given moment. Through this insight, droughts can be resolved and disasters can be averted.

The Qualities of a True Practitioner

To be such a practitioner, one must possess three essential virtues:

  • Great Courage: The bravery to face the challenges of the world without fear.
  • Great Strength: The inner power to sustain one's vows and continue the work of salvation.
  • Great Wisdom: The clarity to see the truth and act accordingly.

When such a practitioner is encountered, all beings are truly fortunate. Regardless of the circumstances, the practitioner must ensure that their daily life remains on the right path. They must clearly understand the needs of all beings, address their deficiencies, and observe the conditions of the world to teach and transform them, providing exactly what is required for their liberation.

The Light of Hsiang Kuang

Such a practitioner is found here at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. Under the leadership of Practitioner Su, this centre serves as a beacon of light for the achievement of spiritual practice. Those who follow this path walk alongside Namo Amituofo, acting as true children of Namo Amituofo. By dedicating your life to this noble mission, you too can leave suffering behind and find true happiness in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Namo Amituofo.
