The Path to Awakening and the Nature of Truth
The Twenty-First Letter of Venerable Master Wei Jue
Recorded on July 7, 2017

This letter was written by Venerable Master Wei Jue on July 7, 2017. In this correspondence, the Master addresses the persistent doubts of the fourfold assembly regarding the nature of spiritual practice and the true essence of supernatural abilities, urging practitioners to seek the path of total liberation through the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre.
Venerable Master Wei Jue speaks:
"Despite the many teachings and lectures delivered, it appears that many still struggle to cultivate true faith. I have no desire to dwell on how you perceive the matter of supernatural powers. The Truth remains immutable: supernatural power is but a fundamental instinct. Upon achieving true purification, one naturally attains clear insight and understanding. This is a natural occurrence; once purification is attained, it is quite simple. However, purification is not a state reached through mere discourse. The root of true purification lies in the heart of no-attachment, the state of , and the absence of wandering thoughts. The closer one draws to that state of pristine clarity, the more naturally one succeeds. As for the effort required—the discipline to subdue one's own body and mind—whether it is simple or difficult, you know the answer best by looking within.
The Power of Belief and Letting Go
I often hear elderly lay practitioners complaining, asking how it could be so easy to let go or so simple to change. When you speak in such a manner, it truly becomes difficult, complicated, and arduous. All of these outcomes are determined by the workings of your own heart. If you believe it is easy, then it is easy. If you believe it is simple, then it is simple. If you believe in it one hundred percent, it will offer you one hundred percent of its effectiveness. The amount of effort you put in cannot be faked; it is impossible to deceive. If you can practise in a down-to-earth manner and believe in yourself, this path will not be difficult to walk.
The Clarity of True Vision
However, you must look clearly: is there still any place in this world that you are unable to let go of? If there is, then you will certainly find the path difficult. If you can let go completely, with no attachment to a single thing, you will very quickly be able to realise your true nature. Moreover, you will see for yourself that the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is real. Once you have awakened and seen the Truth with your own eyes, you will be able to believe. At that time, you will also possess these fundamental instincts, and it will all happen naturally. Would you still call it 'supernatural power' then?
A Final Warning on the Path
There are too many things in this world that one must never arbitrarily slander. You must be very careful. Practise diligently; this path is truly magnificent. All members of the fourfold assembly, you must remember this. Namo Amituofo."
