This interview was recorded on February 25, 2018, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. It features Ma Yun, who sought deliverance and guidance from the through the assistance of the centre. In this session, he shares his reflections on his spiritual path, the nature of existence, and his commitment to the practice of the Dharma.

Venerable Shi Faxi speaks: "Ma Yun, Namo Amituofo."

Ma Yun speaks: "Namo Amituofo. I am Ma Yun. I am truly delighted to be walking upon the Dharma lineage of propagating the Pure Land teachings. Although I have not yet fully realised this in the physical reality of the world, I will continue to strive toward this goal. In my heart, there has never been such a thing as an impossible task; success is something that I have always held firmly in my own hands. I will not fail, because the very concept of failure has never once entered my mind.

The Courage to Face the Unseen

Every morning, I observe the proceedings and engage in dialogue with the spirits. At the very beginning, I must admit, I was truly afraid. However, after speaking with them several times, I have come to realise that these spirits are not as terrifying as I once imagined. Everyone exists within their own space, and that includes me—Ma Yun is also existing within a space. If I were unable to awaken, I, too, would be a spirit. Having inquired into so many cases, I understand this principle very clearly now. The question remains: does Ma Yun wish to remain a spirit, or does he wish to attain Buddhahood?

Breaking Through the Illusion of Wealth

Although this dream of Buddhahood seems somewhat distant, when I recall that I was once the Great Master Faxian, I realise that this is the very lesson I must break through. To attain Buddhahood, I must also learn to relinquish my wealth. I believe these resources are exactly what the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre requires at this time. Having witnessed so much, I must confess that my heart is truly filled with a sense of trepidation. The human soul is so incredibly fragile, yet people remain so deeply attached to the illusions in their hands—illusions that they cannot take with them when they depart. It is truly foolish. Fellow practitioner, I will provide you all with an update as soon as possible. Namo Amituofo."
