An Interview with Lay Practitioner Ma Yun
Recorded on October 1, 2018
This is a record of an interview with Ma Yun, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He reflects upon his observations of the assembly and his newfound desire for spiritual . Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxi, on October 1, 2018.
Lay Practitioner Ma Yun speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. It is truly remarkable how quickly time passes; a full month has slipped away, and here we are at the first day of October. I find myself wishing that I could simply wake up from this dream of existence. The world is filled with such immense suffering, and I see this clearly now. I, too, have a deep desire to save the world, and I truly hope that I might be granted the opportunity to make that happen.
Witnessing the Magnificent Dharma Assembly
Yesterday, I had the privilege of witnessing a Dharma assembly of such profound dignity and magnificence. It was a sight beyond words. The entire expanse of space was filled with beings, and they were all singing—they were chanting the beautiful holy name of Namo Amituofo. In my past life, I would never have been able to record or even comprehend such an event, but now, I feel as though I am beginning to have some genuine insights. I believe that very soon, I will be able to manifest a physical response to this spiritual reality.
I am deeply grateful for the guidance and assistance provided by Practitioner Su along this journey. These visions of Chao Du have been of immense help to me; they have shown me exactly what I need to do. I realise now that the world is not at all what I once thought it was. In the past, I was truly ignorant of these truths. It is only because the space here has been opened up that I am finally able to see everything with such clarity.
The Truth of Life and Death
The Chao Du skills of Practitioner Su are truly boundless. As I stood by and watched, I was completely dumbfounded. If one were to attempt to capture this with modern recording equipment, I suspect that even our most advanced technology would be far too slow to record it. It is a process that moves faster than time itself, involving a quantity of beings so vast that it is impossible to imagine. Yet, this is the reality: this is how they are delivered to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
The most sobering reality is that every single person, upon death, will find themselves in this very state. To realise that when a human dies, they become one of these beings—this has left me in a state of profound shock. It is such a simple truth, yet it seems I am only just now grasping it. Alas, human life is truly so fragile and, in many ways, not worth the attachments we hold. I, too, wish to begin learning these skills early, to find my true self again. I will strive to reach this place and break through my own limitations. I am so grateful to Practitioner Su for leading me to see these things. I will work hard to strengthen my own practice. I believe that if I have the heart for it, the task will surely be accomplished. I am grateful for everything. I am grateful to Namo Amituofo."
