This is a record of an interview with Yu Jinlan, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the spirit realm to the Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on March 20, 2026.
Yu Jinlan speaks:
". I heard the practitioners at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre referring to me as ' Yu Jinlan' and inviting me to share my story. It is truly an extraordinary feeling to be addressed as a Bodhisattva here. In the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, everyone is a Buddha or a Bodhisattva, yet to be called by such a title still fills my heart with a profound sense of wonder and gratitude.
My name is Yu Jinlan, and I am speaking to you from the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I must send a message of peace to my family; I want them to know that I have arrived safely in this magnificent Buddha-land. I have seen the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas with my own eyes. In the centre stands Namo Amituofo, towering and majestic, smiling upon us all and radiating brilliant light. At this moment, my heart is perfectly calm and still, filled with a sense of freedom and that I have never experienced before. I wish to share this state of mind with all of you, hoping that you, too, can feel the joy that now resides within me."
The Radiance of the Pure Land
"Since arriving here, my entire being has been transformed; I am glowing with a radiance that is vastly different from my previous state. I had heard people say that upon reaching the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, even women would transform into a male form. While I was in the , I often pondered this, and now, it has truly been verified. This world is one of perfect equality, where everything is naturally and spontaneously beautiful. Everyone here is inherently pure and good, completely free from the afflictions that plague the human world. This is the kind of world that everyone yearns for, is it not?
My dear family, I have seen that you have come to know the Buddha. It was my child, Li Guiying, who registered me for the Chao Du ceremony. My dear child, I want to say a few words to you: you have encountered the Buddha in this lifetime, so you must hold onto this opportunity tightly. Do not follow in your mother's footsteps. In my past life, I did not do anything particularly evil, nor was I exceptionally virtuous. But if a human soul simply passes through life in such an ordinary way—a mix of good and bad, without any great evil—then after death, one naturally becomes a ghost. That was the reality of my existence after I passed away. I became just like the countless, uncountable spirits wandering in this vast space. I was so lonely, so lost, and so helpless. I did not know where to go or what to do, and I had no way to help my own spirit. I could only drift along with the current, which shows that my spiritual level was not very high at all."
From the Darkness of Samsara to the Light
"However, when I was carried by a beam of light to the Western -Nature Land, that was the true turning point of my existence. Who would have thought that a helpless ghost like me could suddenly receive such a magnificent opportunity? First, I arrived at the Western Dharma-Nature Land, and then I was able to successfully be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. The arrangement of all these magnificent Causal Conditions is truly inconceivable.
This is the result of the I had planted in the past, and it is also the tremendous blessing of my family having encountered the Buddha. The good causes we collectively created have now blossomed into good fruit, and that is the only reason I have the opportunity to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss today."
A Final Message to My Family
"Regarding my past lives, I have no regrets, nor is there anything to be distressed about. I have accepted everything, and I am moving forward. The Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is my home now, and Namo Amituofo is my supreme guide. I sincerely hope that all those who have a karmic affinity with the Buddha will come to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre at this time, to practise diligently alongside the Buddha. It is possible for everyone to reach the day of rebirth in the Western Pure Land.
