Laifu speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the kind-hearted who saved me. The moment I first saw you, I knew you possessed a profound and boundless love. Although the time we spent together was not long, I felt an immediate and deep connection to you. Thank you for performing Chao Du for me. Because of your , I have been able to arrive here in this brilliant, radiant Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. More importantly, you have allowed me to shed my canine form and finally escape the cycle of reincarnation.
The Transformation of a Soul
When I first arrived in this luminous Buddha-land, the immense power of the Buddha’s blessing allowed me to regain a human body. At the very beginning, I was not accustomed to being human again; it took some time for me to adapt. My only began to clear gradually, and it was then that I started the process of purification and listening to the teachings of the Buddha here in this holy place.
I truly never expected that during this time, I would be granted the ability to see my own past. The images that appeared before me were absolutely astonishing. It turns out that in a previous life, I was a minor king of a Tibetan tribe. In the past, in order to protect my people, I killed countless others. Lhasa was one of the cities I guarded with my life. Because I carried the weight of so many lives on my soul, I was forced to be reincarnated as many different animals to repay my karmic debts. This life as a dog was actually my eleventh time being born into the animal realm.
The Weight of
I have seen the horrors of my past: I have been hacked to death by blades, I have been cooked, I have been cruelly abused, and I have died from agonizing illnesses. Seeing these memories filled my heart with such profound fear. I have had to repay my debts time and time again. Compared to the suffering I endured in those past lives, dying of illness after being abandoned by my owner in this lifetime was actually a very light form of karmic retribution.
Although I harmed many people in the past, I was not a wicked person at heart. When I launched those wars, my only hope was to suppress the rebellious tribes so that they would calm down and allow other tribes to live in peace. It was never for the sake of my own selfish desires. However, the laws of and cause and effect are absolute—a life must be paid for with a life. My soul knew that I had committed grave errors, so I was willing to repay those I had harmed. Now, at last, there is a conclusion to this long journey. My debts are nearly settled, and it is only through the help of the Bodhisattva that I gained the Causal Conditions to encounter the Buddha and be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
A Message of Gratitude
Bodhisattva, you and I were actually old acquaintances from long ago. Let us not dwell on the past; the laws of karma and cause and effect are woven into everything. Now that you have encountered the Great , you must follow the Buddha, propagate the Buddha’s teachings, save more people, and return gloriously to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Your ability is sufficient to achieve this, and your good roots are truly precious. I am eternally grateful to you."
