The Meaning of Transmission

The concept of transmission carries the profound meaning of receiving and passing on the torch of wisdom from one generation to the next. In the worldly realm, various arts, crafts, and unique techniques are often guarded with great secrecy. It is common for families or exclusive schools to keep their most effective methods hidden, refusing to share them with outsiders. There is a common saying that fat water does not flow to outsiders' fields, implying that one should keep all benefits within one's own circle. This deep-seated selfishness has permeated the hearts of many people, though the degree to which it influences an individual varies.

This very mindset is precisely why so many exceptional techniques, profound skills, and great accomplishments have vanished over time. When people are driven by the desire to hoard benefits, security, and advantages for themselves or their own kin, they are acting out of selfishness. Often, society views this behaviour as natural or even necessary. Many people are so deeply entrenched in this way of thinking that they do not even recognise it as a flaw. At this point, selfishness has become an inseparable part of their personality and habits.

The Subtle Obstacles to

When we speak of spiritual practice, the stakes are much higher. Even if you hold only a single, subtle thought of selfishness—or if you engage in an inadvertent, habitual action driven by self-interest—it acts as a form of pollution. This impurity makes it difficult to achieve true purification and renders the goal of Awakening impossible to reach. You must be extremely cautious, for the path to the truth requires a heart that is completely transparent and free from the shadows of the ego.

While there are many different gates within the Buddha’s teachings, all paths ultimately return to the same source. The fundamental purpose of all practice is to achieve liberation from the cycle of rebirth and to find one's original, true self. The path, in particular, is designed to help you make the vow to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. It offers you the opportunity to lead a life that is cool, refreshing, free, and spiritually autonomous. Such a magnificent is a treasure that must be continued and passed on with integrity.

The Foundation of the

To carry the Dharma forward, one must embody the four essential qualities of the heart. These are the great roots and foundation of the Buddha’s teachings, from which all branches, leaves, and fruits of practice grow:

  • :
  • The heartfelt wish to alleviate the suffering of all beings.Wisdom:
  • The clear, penetrating insight that sees the truth of the Dharma Realm.:
  • The pure, unselfish happiness found in the success and liberation of others.Letting Go: The ability to release all attachments, including the ego and the desire for personal gain.

These four qualities, known as the Four Immeasurables, are developed from the expansion of one's mind-capacity. They are the basic characteristics required by anyone who wishes to become a true transmitter of the Buddha’s teachings.

The Qualities of a Successor

A true successor is someone who is encountered and recognised through the Causal Conditions of the one who transmits the Dharma. For the transmitter, it is perfectly clear who is capable of receiving this responsibility. As the transmitter works tirelessly for the Buddha’s gate, the specific abilities and conditions required for a successor naturally begin to emerge. Depending on the era and the environment, these conditions may be similar to or different from those of the transmitter.

In this current age of the Dharma-ending period, the transmission of the Pure Land path is of vital importance. A successor must be able to maintain flexibility while strictly preserving the pure and good nature of the Pure Land teachings. They must ensure that the development of the Pure Land path does not deviate from its original intent or fall into wrong paths. Only those who have realised their true nature are capable of bearing this heavy responsibility; without this realisation, it is difficult to succeed.

The Mission of Hsiang Kuang

Practitioner Su understands this great intent clearly. His guidance to the students of Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is direct and focused: he points them straight toward Awakening. Only those who have realised their true nature possess the Four Immeasurables, the selflessness, and the required to shoulder this heavy burden during these extraordinary times. Every student at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre has a responsibility in this mission. You must understand your own duty, hold yourself to high standards, and strive to break through and overcome the various difficulties in your practice.

If there is more than one person who achieves Awakening—whether it be two, three, four, five, six, or seven—the strength of the Dharma will grow exponentially. Under the leadership of Practitioner Su, who has himself realised his true nature, we believe that every monk, nun, and lay practitioner can be guided to develop their inherent potential and true self. This will allow Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, with Namo Amituofo residing here, to flourish and manifest the Pure Land teachings. May the holy name of Namo Amituofo and the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss be spread forever throughout the vastness of the Dharma Realm.
