Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju provides these essential teachings for those participating in the group prostrations at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. On this day, during the , the atmosphere within the temple was imbued with a profound sense of sacredness and spiritual clarity.

The Radiance of the Holy Assembly

When we gather for group prostrations, the Buddha-light shines through the heavens and illuminates the earth. This is a manifestation of the boundless of the Buddha. Namo Amituofo stands before us, His light magnificent and awe-inspiring. To His left and right stand Avalokiteshvara and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, their bodies radiating light that permeates the entire space. Furthermore, the Pure Land thirteen generations of patriarchs and the vast assembly of pure, holy Bodhisattvas surround the Buddha on both sides. Throughout the three hours of , Namo Amituofo and this holy assembly remain in the Buddha hall, protecting and guiding every practitioner present.

The Transformation of Hidden Beings

During these hours of group practice, we can observe the reactions of the residing within the bodies of the new practitioners. Initially, these beings are filled with surprise as they encounter the brilliance of the Buddha-light. However, as the practice continues, their states of mind begin to shift significantly:

  • Some beings, who previously harboured deep resentment and anger, find their hearts becoming much calmer and more peaceful.Others are moved to join the practitioners in performing prostrations, seeking their own path to liberation. Some begin to chant the name of Namo Amituofo, aligning their own vibration with the Buddha-name.There are also those who stand with their arms crossed, watching the practitioners intently, as if testing to see how long the practitioners can maintain their dedication to the practice.

The internal state of these beings varies greatly, and their attitudes and expressions reflect this diversity. Yet, when viewed as a whole, it is clear that these beings are observing the changes occurring within the practitioners themselves.

A Precious Opportunity for Reconciliation

I urge everyone to take these prostrations seriously. This time is a perfect, auspicious opportunity for the purification of both the beings within you and your own body, mind, and spirit. By maintaining a sincere and focused heart, you can assist these beings in letting go of their past grievances, allowing you to resolve the conflicts of the past. You must practise with true diligence and sincerity, for this is the path to leaving suffering behind and finding true happiness. Namo Amituofo.
