The Solvable and the Unsolvable: Teachings from Namo Amituofo
A Discourse by Namo Amituofo
Recorded on June 6, 2025
The Wisdom of Discernment
In the teachings of Namo Amituofo, we must distinguish between that which is solvable and that which is unsolvable. To have a solution means there is a method to resolve a difficulty, a way to find an answer, or a path to alleviate the suffering of a trapped situation. Conversely, to have no solution means there is no need to seek an answer, for the question itself is not the path to liberation.
How do we discern between these two? What is solvable, and what is beyond the need for inquiry?
The Truths of the Realm
That which is solvable includes the fundamental truths of our existence. It is solvable to:
- Understand the reality of the six realms of rebirth.
- Recognise the existence of all beings throughout the vastness of the Dharma Realm.
- Comprehend the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, which all beings in the Dharma Realm must collectively uphold.
When you understand these, you possess the key to resolving the confusion that binds you to the cycle of rebirth.
The Eternal Journey of the Spirit
What, then, is unsolvable? Consider the life of the spirit. When did it begin, and when will it end? The life of the spirit is without beginning or end. It is a journey that stretches across eternity, and there is no point in asking when it started or when it will conclude. The question of where the very first spirit originated is a mystery that reaches back into the beginningless past; it is not a matter that requires your investigation.
The spirit may travel to any place or any realm within the vastness of the Dharma Realm. If you truly wish to know the history of your spirit, you may look into the . Within this storehouse, you can discover where your spirit has been in its past lives, long before this current existence.
Navigating the Currents of Impermanence
You may ask: "Will this body still exist after the present moment?" Because all beings who have not yet realised their true nature exist in a state of impermanence, the future is never guaranteed. Even after the physical body passes away, most people cannot know where their spirit goes. If the energy of a spirit in the spiritual realms is exhausted and it withers, ending that particular life, the subsequent destination of that spirit remains unknown to the ordinary mind.
However, for those who have realised their true nature, or for those who possess the ability to observe the Alaya , the past lives and the current location of a spirit are clearly visible.
A Sanctuary of Light and Deliverance
Everything regarding the spirit is governed by the laws of and cause and effect. Yet, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, a profound change occurs. Beings who receive can have their destination revealed by asking Namo Amituofo directly through the temple.
While the destination of a spirit after death is usually an unsolvable mystery to the world, at this temple, it becomes solvable. This is because Namo Amituofo truly abides at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Here, spirits can be invited to enter the Western Land of Dharma Nature to undergo purification, listen to the sutras, hear the Dharma, and chant the name of the Buddha.
The Magnificent Path to Ultimate Bliss
After the process of Chao Du, if a spirit harbours the vow to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, the path is opened. Because Practitioner Su can freely travel to and from the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, he is able to guide these spirits to that magnificent realm during the . This is an inconceivable and magnificent event, unprecedented in its efficacy. It occurs because the great vow of Practitioner Su is perfectly in sync with the Buddha-heart of Namo Amituofo, granting beings this rare opportunity to enter the Western Pure Land.
The critical factor in this process is the Chao Du performed by the living. This act signifies that the causal conditions for that being have matured, granting them the opportunity for rebirth. As the sutras state, one cannot be reborn in that land with only a small amount of good roots and . If a being failed to chant the Buddha's name at the time of death and did not receive the Buddha's guidance to the Western Pure Land, they may still find a way through the causal conditions created by the living who perform this deliverance. They are first brought into the Western Land of Dharma Nature, and from there, they enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
This is an inconceivable occurrence and a magnificent skillful means for entering the West. I hope that all who hear these words will grasp this opportunity, for Namo Amituofo truly abides at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre.
