On the twenty-fifth of June, 2022, Namo Amituofo offered this discourse on the origin of the heart's light.
The Source of Inner Radiance
You may ask, where does the light of the heart come from? In truth, this radiance originates from a heart that is entirely free of defilement. In the mundane world, it is difficult for this light to be seen, as it is often obscured by the dust of worldly attachments. However, when one chooses to leave behind these worldly distractions and the accumulation of defilements to enter into dedicated practice, the process of purification begins.
As you continue to purify your heart, the layers of accumulated dust gradually fade away. The more you purify, the more Goodness manifests, until there is not a single trace of impurity left. At the very moment you realise your true nature, this light will flow through your entire being. It will permeate your pores and your internal organs, clearing every blockage until your whole body becomes luminous. When this light shines without end, you have truly reached the state of realising your true nature.
The Challenge of
My children, realising your true nature is not inherently difficult. The true challenge lies in the struggle against the personality and habits you have accumulated over countless lifetimes. You must be prepared to face the following tests as you walk this path:
- Overcoming the Ego:
- You must break through and conquer the various tests that arise from your own personality and past conditioning.Cultivating Virtues:
- You must actively raise your level of and Wisdom (Prajna), integrating them into your daily life.Expanding the Mind: You must learn to place all your experiences within a heart of great tolerance and vast mind-capacity.
To succeed, you must embrace the concept of and realise that your physical body is not your true identity. You must understand that both the false self and the physical body are merely illusory phenomena. Your practice is essentially the process of confronting this false self. Once you clearly recognise that both the self and are illusory, you will no longer be deceived by these false appearances. You will no longer be led astray by them.
Breaking Free from Illusions
You must have the courage to break through your habitual patterns and refuse to be mesmerised by the illusory images of this world. Only then will you be able to discover your original, true nature. This is the only way to sweep away the defilements that obstruct the light of your heart. While you may understand these principles intellectually and believe in them, you must also be willing to face the truth with great boldness. Only when you possess this courage can you truly transform your .
When you transform your karma, you will no longer be pulled along by the force of your karma. Only then is it possible to realise your true nature, and only then can the light of your heart be sustained and manifest continuously. For those who realise their true nature and become a Buddha, the light of the heart shines eternally and will never be extinguished.
The Path to
Your ability to break through your limitations comes from treating all beings with compassion. You must learn to tolerate the faults of others while using your Wisdom (Prajna) to distinguish between what is illusory and what is real. Do not allow yourself to be led by the illusory. If you fall into the trap of the illusory world and find it difficult to leave, you will never have the possibility of realising your true nature. You must walk straight towards the truth, for that is the only path that leads to the possibility of realising your true nature.
