The Essence of Effortless Freedom

The state of serenity is one of effortless freedom, where one is unburdened by worldly concerns. People in this world often yearn for such a state, hoping to possess it as a treasure. However, this serenity is your original nature. It cannot be forced or demanded through external means. Instead, it requires diligent practice that encompasses your body, your , and your spirit.

We must engage in this practice together:

  • Purification: Cleansing our body, mind, and spirit of past impurities.
  • Hear the : Listening to the teachings to understand the truth of the universe.

  • Save: Helping all beings find their way to rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

When your heart is truly peaceful, it becomes like a still lake without ripples or traces. When you dwell in meditative concentration and wisdom, serenity naturally arises from within.

Learning from the Wisdom of Masters

Throughout history, the great masters have moved through the world with a natural grace and dignity. Their every gesture and action often leaves students in awe, filled with admiration and a deep desire to learn from them. Students often hope that, through the guidance of a master, they might one day embody a fraction of that same wisdom. When a master this sincerity, they couldn't help but smile and offer these words of guidance:

The Buddha’s teachings are as vast as the ocean. Even taking a single ladle of water from this vast expanse is enough to bring you and wonder. This sweet nectar acts like a gentle rain, quenching your thirst and opening your heart and mind to the infinite possibilities of the Dharma.

The Journey Toward Buddhahood

If you wish to learn, you must be willing to let go of your attachments. You must be prepared to enter the great ocean of the Buddha’s teachings alongside your teacher. The path to attain Buddhahood requires a heart that aligns with the Buddha-vow and Buddha-actions. It is a journey taken one step at a time, through constant purification and the continuous chanting of the Buddha-name.

With the Buddha’s help, your spirit will be guided to soar across the heavens, witnessing the boundless beauty of the universe. Meanwhile, your physical body must remain grounded, walking the path of the , Concentration, and Wisdom. Do not allow yourself to deviate from these core principles. One day, when you walk the same path as your teacher, you will be able to act with the same ease and freedom. This state of serenity, where body and spirit are light and peaceful, is the true attainment of Buddhahood and the essence of our spiritual lineage.
