The Ten Halls of Hell and Karmic Creditors of Liu Yi-wen
An Interview Regarding the Karmic Creditors of Liu Yi-wen
Recorded on April 25, 2016
This interview was recorded on April 25, 2016, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. It documents the spiritual inquiry regarding the of Liu Yi-wen, who sought deliverance for the sentient beings associated with her past lives. Through the compassionate guidance of Maitreya and Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, the nature of these karmic debts was revealed.
Disciple speaks: "Teacher, Namo Amituofo."
Maitreya Bodhisattva speaks:
"The family has nurtured and supported your growth. Truly, it is not simple to let go. You were born into this nest through the convergence of Causal Conditions. Now, with hardened bones, you must flap your wings and soar alone. When you achieve success and complete your mission, you will repay the kindness of your parents. Of all virtues, filial piety is the most essential. Each person must bear the they have created; no one can interfere with the laws of karma and cause and effect. Only when each individual achieves their own liberation is it true. You must attain Buddhahood yourself to save your kin and all sentient beings.
The Test of Emotional Attachment
Parental love and family affection often entangle and disturb the heart. You must learn to let go and purify your mind; do not be swayed by emotion. Pure filial piety and clean Goodness are not mixed with worldly sentiment. The word 'emotion' is difficult to cut through clearly. Family affection is a great test—it tests how much of your heart is truly dedicated to all sentient beings. Namo Amituofo."
Disciple speaks: "I am deeply grateful for the compassionate teachings of Maitreya Bodhisattva. Namo Amituofo."
Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva speaks:
"The willow branch and its leaves sprinkle pure nectar, scattering it across the human world to soothe the suffering of all beings. My and Reward Body are flexible and ever-changing; this is the Avalokiteshvara practiced for thousands of years. Your good heart and good thoughts are entrusted to the nine heavens. You have encountered this magnificent Dharma in this very life. Join with all the Buddhas to save the world, and take upon yourself the responsibility of propagating the Buddha’s teachings.
A Heart Without Blemish
Keep your heart clean, without a single speck of impurity. With one heart, save all beings and guide them to the West. Awaken your true nature, free from selfish thoughts, and embrace all with the great of the same body. Namo Amituofo."
